i open my eyes and adjusted to the bright light hitting my eyes. i looked around and noticed that i was in my bedroom. i watched as the sun's rays shined onto the dust that flew in the air of my room.
i looked at the clock and saw that i had thirty minutes to get ready. flashbacks from the night before danced their way into my mind. that was definitely a dream. i think to myself.
i get up and head to the showers to clean myself. i get back and slide on a clean uniform and buckle all the straps on my body. i had just a couple minutes to spare, so i spent that time to walk down to the cafeteria. i walked inside and found about half of all the cadets in the cafeteria.
i made my way up to sasha and grabbed myself a plate. "how's it going, y/n?" sasha smiled.
"hello sasha. anything interesting since the last time we've seen each other?" i ask.
"i had an amazing nights sleep!" she said.
"well that's wonderful."
"how about you?"
"i had a really weird dream, but other than that i also got a great night's sleep."
"what was the dream about?" she asked, stuffing her mouth with a potato.
"i don't exactly remember, i just know that i woke up and thought about how weird that dream was." i lie. i actually remembered every aspect of the dream.
"i get dreams like that. their pretty strange."
"agreed." jean sits down beside me and looks between the two of us.
"hey ladies, what's going on?"
"we're talking about how great we slept last night." sasha says.
"that's strange because i had a horrible night. no matter what i did i couldn't fall asleep." jean grumbles.
"i'm sorry to hear that." i say, munching on the food in front of me.
"yeah, okay."
"hey, y/n. hey, sasha." i hear a familiar voice behind me.
"armin!!" sasha calls.
"oh hey!" i say. armin brings mikasa and eren with him and sits at our table.
"eren, mikasa." i say. eren waves and mikasa nods. we continue to eat the food from our plates. the whole time i was sat there eating, i had the strange feeling that something was staring at the back of my head. i ignored it and just thought that i was becoming paranoid.
"hey, y/n, can i walk with you outside today?" jean asks.
"of course." together, we place our plates on a counter by the kitchen. me and jean slowly make our way to the doors.
"hey, y/n," jean says, leaning closer so that i could hear him, "i think someone was staring at you at lunch."
"what? who?"
"i actually don't think i can say."
"then why tell me this information?"
"just thought you should know." he says, wiggling his eyebrows. i shake my head and we make our way outside.
"cadets!" erwin calls. "today we will be having 3dm gear practice!" he pointed to the gear beside him and told us to strap in. i still had this strange feeling that something was watching me. i grab onto jeans arm.
"i can feel something looking at me."
"you'll probably figure out who it is soon. it's pretty obvious, your just not looking for where the stare is coming from." he frees his arm and straps himself in the gear.
i look around, but before i could get anywhere, erwin interrupted me. "y/n, don't tell me you don't know how to strap into the gear."
"oh, no i know how."
"okay, then you need to hurry up. we're starting soon." he walked away, leaving me there with my gear. i stepped into the gear and pulled it up. i got myself strapped in and waited with the other soldiers.
erwin , hange and levi were now standing in front of all the soldiers, giving us instructions. the whole time, i was only paying attention to the blond man speaking to the crowd. i looked over to the short raven haired man next to him.
he was staring straight at me, even when i looked his way. i felt like it was wrong of me to look away, so i continued to stare forward at him. jean nudged my shoulder and started to giggle. i stopped looking at the corporal and instead i looked at jean. "what's your problem?" i asked.
"seems you've figured it out."
"figured wha- oh." i gasp. it finally made sense to me that levi was the one who was looking at me the whole time. "was it really not a dream?" i whisper to myself.
"hmm? didn't hear you y/n." jean says.
"wasn't talking to you."
"what?"
"forget it, jean." he shrugs his shoulders and listens to the rest of what commander erwin had to say to us.
"this will be much like the training you had in the training corps. i want to see for myself how we're doing in the air. that's the whole reason why we're doing this. if there are any questions, please stay back with me. that is all. in five minutes, please meet back here to start." the soldiers around me start to separate into groups.
i make my way over to commander erwin. "y/n, how can i help?"
"you said we would be training the same way as the training corps. i was never in training so can you explain to me what exactly we will be doing?"
erwin nods his head. "we have fake titans set up in the forest. you soldiers will be using your 3dm gear to 'slay' those titans. does that make sense?"
"yes sir." i say. i can feel that levi's gaze was on me the whole time i was speaking with the commander. although it caused me to stress, i decided to look at the captain. he didn't advert his gaze after i looked at him, instead, he continued to look at me.
"is there a problem?" erwin asks, looking between the two of us.
"not that i know of, erwin." i say, walking back to the groups of soldiers.
