i stand in front of the corporal's door, extremely nervous to knock. he had asked me from the fight to see him after dinner. I didn't know if this meant i was in trouble or not. i took a deep breath and my knuckles made contact with the door.

"name and business." his bored voice called on the other side.

"f/n l/n, you asked for me to come see you."

"yeah, come in." i open the door and then close it behind me. the captain was at his desk filling our paper work. how much paperwork does this poor man get? i think to myself.

"take a seat. this won't take long." i sit in the chair facing his desk. he didn't bother to look up at me. "hange told me that i should thank you for the tea. so thank you."

"oh, well your welcome levi." i say, surprised that this cold man called me in to thank me.

"captain levi. cadet, you really need to respect your captain." he sighs, "anyways, i called you in here because erwin heard about your fight with reiner."

"oh yeah, he called me to his office to speak about that a while ago."

"i'm not finished, cadet." levi hissed. "he decided from then that you should be a candidate as a squad leader. after he watched our fight earlier today, his opinion was only strengthened."

"he wants me to be a squad leader?"

"not right now. he just decided that when a squad leader dies, you should take their place. i called you to my office to see if you would accept this offer."

i fiddle with my fingers in my lap, thinking about what i should do. "i honestly don't think you should do it." levi says.

"why's that?"

"it's stressful. as you can see, i'm given piles of paperwork each day. don't even mention the fact that i'm in charge of the lives of my squad members." what he was saying was true, however each job had at least one part to it that you didn't want to do.

"i think i feel the opposite, captain. i think that the opportunity of having such a position would discipline me and help me care more about the people around me." levi nods his head and pick up a tea cup.

"i understand, the decision is all yours. i can't stop you from doing what you want to do." he says sipping on his tea. "cadet, would you go make me some more tea? this is about empty."

"sure." the sound of my boots stepping down on the wood floors echos through the corporal's office. i open the door, and close it behind me. from down the hallway, i can see someone standing by the cafeteria. they were too far away, so i couldn't see exactly who this person was.

as i got closer and closer, i recognized the person to be sasha. "hey y/n." she says, waving.

"hey, sasha. so what are you doing?"

"i'm waiting for any left overs they might have had." she said, pointing into the kitchen. "what are you doing?"

"i'm just getting something to drink." i lie.

"oh, what did the corporal want?" she asks, twirling her hair around her finger.

"well, sasha, i'd actually like to talk about what he said some other time. is that alright?"

"yeah it's fine." she said, following me into the cafeteria. "also, thanks for talking to connie. we're doing much better now thanks to you."

"oh, it's no problem." i smile, taking a kettle with hot water in it and pouring it in a cup.

"i really missed him, y/n." sasha blabbers. she continues to speak about her friendship with connie. i try my best to listen and concentrate on the tea, but i ended up zoning her out.

".... i think i like connie. like more than a friend." i hear sasha say. i snap my head back and look at her. "i'm sorry, do you like him?" she asks, biting her nail.

"no, i'm sorry i zoned out and that was all i heard. anyways, if you like connie you should tell him. maybe not right now, i mean you guys just got back together as friends, but in the future you should tell him."

"yeah, i know. just thinking about it makes me super nervous, though. anyways, do you like anyone, y/n?" sasha asks.

i stop what i was doing, thinking about the question. is there anyone i like? "sasha, i don't think i know if i like anyone." i whisper.

"seriously? well, i guess that means there's nobody here who's really your type. don't worry, i will make sure to find someone who you really like. think of it as a way of me thanking you for getting connie to speak to me again."

"oh, sasha, you don't have to worry about that. your my friend, i'm supposed to help you."

"i guess, but it was still really cool if you to do that. wait, why are you making black tea? don't you like flavor?" sasha asks.

"oh, well, this is actually for the corporal."

"oh?"

"i guess he liked my tea."

"you've made him tea before?"

"yep. after that reiner incident hange told me to make him tea so my punishment wouldn't be so bad. i guess he liked the tea so he asked for more of it."

"wow, y/n. sounds like your getting on the corporal's good side."

"that's a good thing. that man can be so cold."

"yeah, oh look the leftovers! y/n, i'll see you later!" sasha jumps, running to the chef. i shake my head and walk back to the corporal's office, knocking on the door.
