i climbed into a wagon with eren, mikasa, armin, levi, hange, and some priest. i had heard that there was a breach in wall rose, so commander erwin sent us to help the refugees. it was obvious the the others knew something i did not.
armin, eren, and mikasa sat on one side and me levi, hange and the priest sat on the other. everyone in the carriage knew about our mission except for the priest. i actually had no idea why the priest was here.
"i can't believe this..." armin sighs, "how could wall rose suddenly be breached?" he whispered. "what options do we have?"
"why's the priest here?" i finally ask. my eyebrows scrunched together as i looked at him with confusion. hanji wrapped their arm around the priest and playfully punched his arm.
"he's my buddy." they said in a happy voice. "he actually knew about the wall titans, but he decided to keep it a secret." hanji said, pulling their arm away from him and leaning back in the seat. "it seems his church also knows a secret about the walls, but they just won't let us know what it is."
"seriously?" eren asked shocked.
"calm down, eren." mikasa said, pulling him down.
"he wants to see how bad things are." hanji says, "he will make a decision once he sees."
"why can't he just tell us?" i mumble.
"he's got guts." levi said, rolling his eyes. "he's probably the only one who won't speak."
"we could try pulling off their fingernails." i suggest.
"yeah, there's many ways to get someone to answer a question." he says. his arm shuffled in his pocket and he pulled out a gun, aiming it at the priest. "i would love to avoid blowing a whole into someone's body."
i look over at hanji, holding some kind of rock. "what's that?" i ask.
"it's a broken off crystal from the female titan." they said.
"really?" armin asks, "the crystal can still hold up?"
"yes! i don't know why, but this piece is not evaporating and it's given me an idea. i actually compared this crystal to a fragment of the wall and it turns out they are both similar."
"wait a minute...." i say, fitting the pieces together. "you think that the wall is made from hardened titan skin?"
"yes, that's what armin was taking about earlier." mikasa says.
"so that means-" armin is cut off my hanji's hand slapping his mouth shut.
"i would like to say it, armin." hanji said, pushing their glasses up with their finger. "what if we had eren transform into a titan and use his ability to harden to seal the wall."
"that makes a lot of sense." i say, leaning back in my seat.
"you want to use me?" eren asks.
"eren, you can leave your titan's body before it evaporates." hanji said.
"eren, if your able to do this, we can eventually retake wall maria." armin says, patting his friend's shoulder.
"do you think you can do this?" hanji asks.
"it's not about weather he can," levi says, "you have to do it, eren."
"uhm- yeah. yes sir." eren says, beads of sweat forming on his forehead. he saluted to the captain and looked down in his lap. "i will do this!"
"eren," i say. he looks up to me. "remember how you told me about your father's basement?" he nods, "we can go there after you repair wall maria."
he nods and smiles at me. the carriage we were riding in finally comes to a stop. we made our way out of the carriage as we watched the frantic people.
"will he still not answer?" i ask. levi rolls his eyes at the priest who wouldn't speak to us.
"hey, y/n." hanji called. i turned my head to the sound of their voice. "it's time to go."
"wait what?" i ask. why did nobody explain to me what i would be doing on this mission?
"the priest told us that someone from the training corps knows about the secret of the walls." levi said, explaining the situation to me. "she is on the frontlines right now. it's your guys' job to go get her."
"i'm staying here with this brat." he said, pointing at the priest beside him.
"i understand." i say, turning to walk away.
"y/n." i hear his voice call from behind me. "make sure to come back. that's an order."
