ANTHEIA
17 years later

"Happy eighteenth birthday !", my mother screamed excitedly. " I can't believe it, my little angel is an actual adult.", she said hugging me. She smiled so brightly as tears filled her eyes.

"Thank you mom, nothing has changed but I'm happy to be older.", I smiled.

"Since you're an actual adult. You can tell me what the planning is for today."

Since a young age, I've dreamt to go to the city. But I wouldn't go because she always told me how people like us, would be stared at, and honestly, that was enough for me not to ask further. But I knew that today would be the day that I choose to go.

"I think I'm ready.", I said. Shock displayed on her face as she looked at me. "Are you sure", she asked knowingly. " I need to get over my fear eventually", I chuckled as she looked at me."Okay, but you won't leave my side, promise?"

"I promise", I smiled before taking the dress. "I'm going to take a bath", I said as I left. I felt the nerves build up as I approached the lake. I've only been around my mother, and she's the most beautiful person I know. But the way she explained things, made it seem like that doesn't even matter just because of her color. I wondered how I would feel in her place. "Relax", I said to myself as I entered the cold water letting go of that thought.

I swam further into the lake before letting my body float.

"Shine my sun, on my ground. Let these flowers flourish. Take the seeds far away, to the land of the power. Grow my child, go and shine. You will enchant forces. Make me proud, you will see your true beauty"

I sang softly, trying my best to avoid the fact that my mother will hear me. For some reason, she seemed almost scared as sang these words. She would always ask me how I knew those words but I couldn't answer that. It was just simply there. Everywhere I go, I could the song repeat itself in my head. "It's forbidden", I whispered to myself.

"Antheia, we need to leave.", my mom yelled from the house.

Hearing that I quickly left the lake, drying my body. "I'm coming mom!", I said while rubbing the lavender and rose oil all over my body before putting on my dress. As I finished I joined my mom holding the flowers we just picked. " This feels so surreal, I can't imagine what the city will look like", I said with a hint of excitement in my voice. She just looked at me with a smile forming on her lips. "Well, there are so many people and things to see. You can find flowers, jewelry, material for clothes, and food. It's honestly so fascinating. The infrastructure is also breathtaking, just wait until you see it.", she added.

Hearing that I could feel my heartbeat quicken, as my imagination started to run wild. "Mother, I will see people my age."

"Did you just call me old?", she asked me with a raised eyebrow. "No mother", I chuckled. "It's just I haven't met someone my age, what if I don't look good enough."

"That's something you don't have to worry about, my little angel. But if you still do, then it's something you will have to find out.", my mother said as she signaled me to look in front of me.

With all my thoughts, I didn't realize all the noise around me. I could feel my mouth drop open slightly as I looked at the buildings right in front of me. It was something I truly could never imagine for myself. They were held by the pillars. Each of them was decorated with true art. I could see the drawings of what to seem the gods and goddesses they had.

Many people were running around while others screamed to get the attention of customers. Seeing my stunned face my mother took my hand, " I knew you would love the view.".

Still waiting in a trance I nodded, acknowledging what she said. It seems so beautiful, I couldn't wrap my head around it. "Come let's buy some food", my mother said.

As we walked near the food side, we heard someone call my mothers name. "Anastasia! Wait!", a deep voice yelled. My mother rolled her eyes before turning around in annoyance. "Julius"

"Grand rising Anastasia, it's been a while. How have you been?", he said bowing down. "I've been doing good."

"Who's that beautiful young lady?", he said as he noticed me. His eyes refused to meet mine as he looked at the sky. I could see how anxious he was, just by the way he fidgeted with his hands. "She's my daughter", my mother replied to him dryly.

"I didn't know you had a daughter", he stammered. "Not that she's a problem", he quickly added nervously.

"You look a lot like your mother, you have her beauty.", he smiled softly as this was the first time that he dared to look you in the eyes. "It was nice seeing you, Julius.", my mom said as she dragged me away. I glanced over my shoulder to see him all nervous again as he spoke to himself.

"That was weird", I said, making my mom hum in agreement before pulling me towards a stand. We started to look around but that's when something else caught my attention. The stand next to me had jewelry on display. Without even thinking twice, I left my mother's side as I wandered towards the other stand.

There were so many different things that I felt overwhelmed by all of them. I scanned through every item until my eyes landed on the necklace. It was made of gold but that wasn't the thing that captured my attention. It was the crystal that was a part of the necklace. It had a dark rose color that seemed to have a pink glow. The pendant was so beautifully decorated as it formed little flowers around the crystal. "This is so beautiful", I said as I picked it up. "It's made for you", the helper said smiling kindly at me.

"How much does this cost?", I asked nervously for her answer. "I will give it to you for seven golden pieces."

My smile slowly disappeared as I noticed that I had only five. "Is there any way that I can get it for five?", I asked with pleading eyes. "I'm so sorry, it is the crystal. You can't find it anywhere like this.", she said with a remorseful look. I knew I couldn't blame her for saying that. "I understand", I smiled softly. I was about to turn around when I bumped hard into someone.

"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to bump into you. "
