Ares
I entered the ball room looking for Eris, as I knew that she expected an explanation from me but she was nowhere in sight. I was about to walk out of the room when I felt someone grabbing my hand.
"Ares, why did you just leave out of nowhere?", she asked as soon as I looked at her. " There was something I needed to do- ", I said shortly but she quickly cut me off. "So that's why you left Artemis' room", she spat out. My face scrunched into a dumbfounded look as I looked at her confused. Artemis is like a sister to me so for her to say it in the way she did left me confused.
"Eris, you know that she's like a sister to me and why would you even care? It's not like we are still in a relationship, years have already pass", I said bluntly. Her mouth gaped open as she stepped back. " I must have understood the kiss we just shared totally wrong.", she nodded as she walked away.
"It seems like you did a great job with of getting her off your back.", Apollo said squeezing my shoulder. "Don't even get me started", I said turning away as the party really started. The lights went off as everyone gathered on the dance floor. This was always my favorite part of the party. The way you couldn't see anyone but still feel each other's body as you dance. It excited me just by the thought of that.
"Gods and goddesses, today we're here to celebrate our existence. It's been a rough path for all of us, some fight wars, rebuild earth, spread love and desire or lead their equals through plans but we're still here today and together to celebrate that. Let's call the originals to stand here", my father talked out loud.
"That's my sign to leave", Apollo said as he left for the podium. As I saw him walking I remembered the legend my mother used to tell me.
Flashback
"Mother why can't I join the stage? I am just as powerful as the gods and goddesses that stand on that podium.", I fumed in anger. "Because you're not an original", she answered shortly. "Why?", I answered back on her respond.
The originals were those who were created first by the Titans. Titans are more powerful and stronger than the gods, and no one can overpower them at least not yet as the legend speaks.
"Titans were always seen as the most powerful living being that existed but legend speaks different. There was a time that Titans and immortals were at war. It was all caused because of Cronus, the titan of time and evil. He desired power no one could even imagine causing most of the balance between Titan and immortal to disappear. The arguments began as not only him desired power. The war caused billions of mortals and immortal lives until the tribe goddess was created. She was a goddess created by The Creator. The first one to be created by the hands which hasn't happened since the creation of Uranus, the titan of heaven, and Gaea, the titan of earth.
The power that she contained was indescribable, which made all Titans feared her but all the immortals and mortals worship her. She was powerful, fierce but loving. She would do anything to protect others. That's why she worked with the forgesmith Hephaestus making "the sunblade".
It's is the only weapon that could kill a titan, and if used on a God it will destroy the god and the thing they stand for. She was supposed to use it on Cronus but he ended up stabbing her in the heart. With her last strength she hugged him causing the blade to enter his chest. As she died, so many others did. But no one could verify if Cronus truly died as his remains were never found. Some say that the blade has been destroyed but some say that it's still somewhere hidden from the world. It's something we will never know.
That's why we celebrate this day because there's a chance that it could be our last.", my mom said.
Back to present time
My throwback ended as I looked at the originals at the stage. Everyone stood there as I remembered that Artemis was still not there but as if she could hear my thoughts she entered the stage leaving me questioned about where Antheia was. Everyone stood there as the originals presented what they stood for. As my mother was next, she said these next words:
" I'm Hera, the goddess of marriage, childbirth, family. But I also posses the flowers, flowery wreaths and human love, that's why you can also call me Antheia"
As she finished I could see a little twitch on the face of Artemis before she glanced somewhere in the crowd. I couldn't understand why but it was enough to keep an mental note.
Antheia
"Listen carefully Antheia. You can't ignore what I'm about to say, okay?", she spoke sternly as I nodded my head. "The dance will soon begin and I am needed at the stage. This is the part I invited you for, the ball room is by this point totally dark which means that you are able to sneak inside without being seen. You have to be careful and not tell them your name or anything about yourself", she said.
I nodded profusely as excitement filled my body. Finally I could be in a room full of art and food but the thought of being in a room full of immortals quickly covered all the excitement. "How can I be sure that they won't notice me. I probably look like a mortal.", I confessed honestly. "Don't worry, you don't smell like a mortal and there are hundreds of goddesses and gods so they will not suspect anything", she reassuringly said as she held me by the hand. Besides that at this point everyone is already intoxicated making it easier for you", she said dragging me through the hall. I kept my head low as I heard the talking sounds get louder and louder until she opened the door and dragged me inside. It was like we were truly on clouds. The room was just as dark as she described but it were the stars that lightened the atmosphere. It was like it was meant to take everyone's breath away.
"This is so beautiful", I breathed out to see that Artemis was already on stage. Only a few gods and goddesses stood there as they presented what they stood for. I wondered why only a few selected did this and why not everyone in this room. I stood there listening carefully to everyone's words until I spotted the goddess that carved a deep fear inside of me.
" I'm Hera, the goddess of marriage, childbirth, family. But I also posses the flowers, flowery wreaths and human love, that's why you can also call me Antheia"
She said finishing her speech. My eyes quickly darted to Artemis as she was already looking at me.
