Chapter 1

Y/N was 9 years old when she picked up a strange notebook, the moment she touched the paper a huge , almost human like monster appeared right in front of her. big yellow eyes stared at her as Y/N said curiously:

"Hello"

"Hello there little one." The big white skinned monster replied as he smiled widely showing his sharp teeth.

"What are you?"

"I am a  shinigami, god of death" The monster grinned.

"do you have a name?"

The shinigami was quite surprised with how cool the little girl responded to his appearance.

"Ryuk"

"Sick, my name is Y/N. Nice to meet you!" The little girl happily

It was Ryuk's first time on earth, he accidentally dropped his first death note he had ever gotten. He was frightened at first, but now that he had met the little girl a spark of excitement grew inside him.

He was hoping something interesting might happen on earth, over all he was rather bored in the shinigami realm.

The friendship between the shinigami and the little girl grew as they talked more and more, time flew by, never apart. The shinigami started to like the little girl a lot more that he expected.

The little girl never used the notebook as she thought the pages where too nice to write on. She wanted to keep the book for "special occasions."

Ryuk explained many times to her that what she had was no ordinary notebook, but she would never seem to fully understand.

Meanwhile the parents of Y/N where worried for her as she could not stop speaking to this invisible friend of hers. As Y/N grew a bit older her parents sent her to a therapist in hope solve this problem. 

Kids at her school started to bully her for talking to the invisible friend, she was being called crazy by children as well as teachers. Y/N never came home happy, but Ryuk was always next to her to cheer her up.

He understood her.

One day it was too much for her to bare, one of the guys threw a book at her as she was having a conversation with Ryuk. The book left a big burning cut from her lowest eyelid all the way to her cheek.

Y/N ran out off class, Ryuk quickly following her. She ran faster and faster, eyes tearing up, eventually sobbing.

When she got home she started bawling her eyes out. Something in her mind snapped, she shouted ryuks name, surprised by her tone Ryuk anwsered her call

"yes YN?"

"The notebook... it can make someone disappear right?"

"Sort of, the persons whom you write the name of in the death note, they will die."

"That means that that person will disapear from this world right?"

"Well yeah something like that. "

"I just have to write their name... "

Y/N quickly got up and started writing names in the notebook, the black pen screeched over the paper.

First her classmates, then her teachers and finally her therapist.

They'd never understand her anyway.

Ryuk started laughing, happy finally something interesting happened.

Y/N just kept writing and writing, she made sure that every person dies of a different death, Y/N was rather intelligent. She knew that if she made them all die of heart attacks, people might find out about the death note. She didn't want to risk losing her only friend, Ryuk.
