The night started to get darker and deeper. The light ticking sound of rain started to fill your ears, completely calming you.

You closed your eyes just for a moment, breathing slowly until a thunder rumbled. It made the muscles in your eyelids flinch for a slight moment, but it was soon replaced by a heavy feeling as the thunder got a bit louder.

You sat in your chair completely calm, just enjoying the storm that you didn't notice the detective observing your every move. Every muscle movement, just to get even a little closer to his so desired answers to the impossible questions he had about you.

"Do you enjoy thunderstorms?" You asked while still having your eyes closed, focusing on the rain.

The sound of L shifting in his seat made you aware that he heard you, but he kept quiet for a little bit.

"A lot of people are scared of them you know, are you?" You opened your eyes now, looking at L who was nervously biting on his thumb and staring at the coffee that was still there.

You had never seen him nervous before, you couldn't even believe he would ever get nervous. No case could make him feel even the slightest bit anxious, but a thunderstorm did it for him.

He suddenly responded:

"When I was a kid I believed dragons lived in those fearsome storms, that's why no one would have ever seen one.

I feared the storms for a long time and even got nightmares of dragons appearing when a thunderstorm came, destroying homes.

I could hear the people screaming inside of the burning homes, but I could do nothing other then watch them burn.

I can still hear them scream sometimes ."

He actually opened up to you, this was a move you definitely did not expect. Did this mean he trusted you for even a little bit?

Revealing one of his fears was a huge break trough for you, you could use this in so many ways.

Dreams often have a deeper meaning than just being afraid of what in shown in your dream. You knew that L wasn't afraid of the dragons, he was afraid of not being able to save those who got attacked.

That's probably why he became a detective, to save those who couldn't themselves.

"I think you are a good person, Ryuzaki." You replied.

That wasn't a lie, you really did believe he was truly good. He wasn't perfect, but no one is.

He seemed like he didn't have any emotions, although you knew he had. He showed them in almost unnoticeable ways, sometimes face expression, but more often small habits. He bit his thumb a lot, especially when he was excited or anxious.

Ryuzaki looked at you for a moment before mumbling:

"Good and bad is a concept the world made, but there is evil in this world. Evil must be justified, punishment following. I will make sure of that."

He said looking back at the screen where all of the recently deceased criminals were listed.

"You know, it was a compliment." You replied with a grin, knowing he had a hard time taking them.

He looked back at you, his head tilting slightly.

"Thank you."

"Anyways." you changed the subject. "What do you think about it, the current case."

"We will need full police cooperation, the killer might be a group or a single person. It seems like the killer doesn't have to be there in person, but that almost seems impossible."

His behavior changed slightly, but just enough to be noticed. He hardened and his anxiety seemed to have completely vanished.

He sure was distracted easily, it made sense though. The cases distracted him from himself, the more complex the case, the more distracting it was.

There sure was more to this man than you thought, but you started to figure him out a bit more every day.

"Maybe the heart attacks are caused by some sort of new drug, it could be placed in the food. I don't think a single person would be able to that though."

You sure where getting better at making up possibilities to draw him away from a god-like idea, it would be a disaster if he would catch on to a thought like that.

You did not think that would happen easily, L seemed to hunt for facts, not theory.

"It might." He said as he frowned looking at his screen."

"What is it? Sometime new?" You asked.

"The media has already picked up on all of it, they even have a nickname already. Most of the time this doesn't happen this quickly."

You looked over on L's screen, a black website was shown showcasing the name "kira".

"The legend of Kira the savior." L read out loud.

"He is nothing more than a pity criminal who thinks he is smart." L almost started to sound angry.

"There are wings around it!" You almost laughed.

"This is atrocious! I will not rest until the person or persons is brought to justice." L spoke loudly all of a sudden.

"Hey you should put that in your speech tomorrow." You smirked.
