TW suicide thoughts

A permanent question lived in your mind. How would you possibly escape with a detective watching your every move? Would you even get out of here?

What if.. You looked at a pair of scissors laying on the desk besides you.

Would you really want to keep living like this? Always locked up, even mentally now. And this, while the guilt ate away from you.

The choice was yours; killing yourself so you could be free, free of guilt, free of the word, free of the mental chains.

Or kill L and Watari with a better chance of escaping but would you be able to live further with that guilt added. They both were innocent.

But you had to choose, because of right now, you were just killing time.

No, giving up wasn't an option. It never was and it never will be. You will get out of this, alive.

But killing wasn't an option anymore either, you needed to get better than that.

You still did not trust L at all. He was nice and all, but he was clever. That was the big problem, you would never be able to let your guard down.

Everything could be a trick, a test. Every move you made would lead him closer to you and that was something you could not let happen.

When you got to the main room that morning L wasn't there, Watari was instead.

"Good morning Watari, I haven't seen you in a while." You said as you took some water.

"Good morning, how have you been?" Watari asked.

"Wonderful." You said with sarcasm.

"Right, sorry." The old man looked down for a slight moment.

"Don't worry, is Ryuzaki on the rooftop again?"

"Indeed he is, but someone needs to keep an eye on you so here I am." Watari answered.

"I see." You sat yourself next to Watari, turning a computer on.

Of course L wouldn't let you be alone. Except when you wanted to sleep.

"Does he ever go out, at all? Doesn't he have any friends?" You asked Watari.

"How many friends do you imagine he has? That's not important to him, he is afraid to go outside. That's the price you have to pay, in order to be the best detective."

"Why? No one has seen his face right?" You responded.

"That's true, but he locked away some of the most notorious criminals of all time. People are after him, we just can't afford to risk it." Watari muttered.

"I understand."

At that moment L walked into the room, his hair was messier that normal. I must have been quite windy again.

"Thank you Watari." L mumbled.

Watari left the room and L sat in his unusual position in his chair.

"Is it true?" You asked. "That you don't have any friends?"

L's face turned to you, he raised an eyebrow.

"Did Watari tell you that?" He sighted.

"Yes, but don't blame him. I asked."

"Great." He mumbled with sarcasm.
"Alone protects me." He added in his usual monotone voice.

You glanced at Ryuk as you responded:

"I don't agree with you, friends protect people. Although you do need to choose the right ones."

"To me friends are just another risk, another worry." He spoke blankly.

"You never had a friend, how can you be so sure about that." You challenged him.

"Most of the crimes I have solved, especially murders. There is almost a 90% chance of your killer being someone you know, most likely someone close to you.

This of course, with exception from serial killers who murder for their personal entertainment."

"Well, you've got a point there."

You had to gold in a grin. This was useful information, this meant that Watari could be the only person close to L. He didn't have any friends, most likely no family either as he grew up with Watari.

"Would you care for a game of chess?" L proposed snapping you out of your thoughts.

"I have never played chess, it sounds intriguing though."

"I can teach you." L said as he got up from his chair. A slight excitement could definitely be heard in his voice.

After a little while you got the hang of it, together you played a few matches. You only won one of them but it sure was entertaining.

It did tire you a lot, so you decided to take a nap on the couch as L went back to working on the computer. Your eyes felt tired and it did not take long before you drifted away into a deep sleep.

Meanwhile L was struggling with his thoughts, this case of Neera took a lot more time than expected. She knew his and Watari's name in seconds, how?

It was simply impossible. And the murders, no evidence was found. She was a suspect until she confessed. Why would she? Was it arrogance that got the better of her?

He didn't have any answers to these questions, it frustrated him. On the other hand, he couldn't deny that the company was nice. He didn't have much human contact at all, most of it was trough the screen.

And how she slept there on the couch, she didn't seem dangerous at all.

He had noticed the large scar on her face before but he didn't think anything of it.

Watari broke his thoughts:

"Ryuzaki, a new case! Criminals have been dying of heart attacks for the past five days."

Y/N's eyes opened within seconds, your heart sank to you stomach. Could it be?You closed you eyes again, you had to remain calm. Your limbs felt numb as you opened your eyes again, slowly.

You looked around and panic now filled you. Ryuk wasn't here anymore.
