"Checkmate" you say, a smug expression on your face.

"You've won, good job. Shall we get back to the plan?" L answered with a noticeable annoyance on his face.

His sour face made your mood get a bit better after the intense past hour.

"You hate to lose, but sure, let's repeat it once more. So we'll start tomorrow by sending out a broadcast in Kano, this because of the large population there.

We'll let inmate 67 perform as Lind. L. Tailor. this way we'll prove that the killer is real and see if he is located in Kano.

If nothing happens, we'll move on to the next state." The words came out quick but smooth.

"Excellent, I'm not quite sure if thing will go well. Is it really possible to kill without actually being at the crime scene? I sure am interested in how he kills." L's expression changed to more intrigued.

"We'll find out when we catch him." You said getting a bit more confident about the case creating a smile on your face.

"We will, sadly, at the moment there is nothing we can do but wait until tomorrow." L  responded while nibbling on his thumb.

"Right, so I had a thought." You mumbled.

The past few weeks had been quite interesting, although the cases you and L solved until now were not very complicated. It sure was entertaining.

But now there was some free time, you would really love to go outside for a moment. You wanted to see the green nature so bad as you only saw it in your child years and on the TV.

Something about it seemed so peaceful and gorgeous, you were really drawn to it for some reason.

"Oh no." L responded to your mumbling in his usual monotone voice.

"Did you really just..?" You said in disbelief. Since when was this man capable of even the slightest bit of humor.

L turned his head to you, his eyes scanning you for a moment until a small proud smirk appeared on his face.

It made you laugh on the inside, he was so self aware of his "joke" and he was proud of it. It was hilarious if you thought about it.

"I hate you." You said with a spark in your eye as you grinned.

"No you don't, back to your thought." He now turned his whole body towards you, paying close attention onto your next words.

"I want to go outside, not the rooftop. I want to see nature." You said trying to contain a bit of your excitement. You wouldn't want to be disappointed badly.

"Nature?

I guess we have time to go outside for a bit. I'll ask Watari to drive." He mumbled.

Your hart jumped at those words for a moment, a big smile grew on your face and you felt your cheeks grow red for the first time in a very long time.

"Thank you, thank you so much!" You smiled exited.

"Chances are low you'll try to run away as we have a goal now and you can't survive on your own in Japan. So I don't think that there will be a problem." He spoke.

He was right on that, your runaway plan was delayed until L and you locked away that new humiliating death note owner.

Your anxiety started to grow a little again just thinking about the notebook, but not now. You were going to enjoy these few moments outside.

Fresh green grass touched your bare feet as you stepped out of the long black car. The many colors and sounds overwhelmed you and the beautiful lake right in front of you made your stomach feel weird. It was a good feeling tough.

L too stepped out of the car, his hand were in the pockets of his way too big blue jeans as he stood besides you. His back and neck looked like it must really hurt.

You took a deep breath and the smell of the trees and grass filled your nose and lungs. You walked forwards a bit, L following you.

There you just sat down, the grass was soft and the sounds of the various birds made you feel happy, truly happy and calm.

A cold fresh breeze made the hairs on you arm stand up straight. It felt nice on you skin.

"Ryuzaki?"

"What is it?" He responded interested.

"What do you think that happens when we die?" You said as you stared at the sky starting to change its colors.

"I have never really thought about that." He said as he took a small pause.

"I think we live further, in a new world with all sorts of differences of the current one." He continued blankly.

"I hope so." You said as you gazed at the beautiful sunset.

As if the sky were a faucet, slowly draining the vibrant colors into a vacuum of nothingness.
