If Ryuk wasn't here anymore and all those heart attacks, this was no coincidence.

Someone had found the death note. You heart started beating loudly, you could hear it and feel it in your throat.

All of this was a problem, you had to get out of here before this situation escalated. The longer you waited, the harder it was going to get and the more damage this stupid human could do.

You started to feel rage coming up, this humiliating human thinking he could steal the death note. Your death note!

"Neera, are you okay?" L snapped you out of it, his voice sounded unsure.

"Yeah, I'm fine. So, Watari, what's this case about?" You answered in your best monotone voice.

You could not show emotion, no reaction, nothing. Everything could hint about you knowing more about this specific case.

Watari started to explain as you requested:

"Over the past five days fifty-two criminals have passed, and this is just what we know of right now. They all died of heart attacks, and they all were held in prison or wanted."

"How is that even possible?" You masked. Of course you knew.

No emotion.

L frowned while looking back at the screen and taking a bite of a small cookie.

"Watari, I need all the data, media, documents, everything. Neera, we'll read everything trough, alright?" L said while chewing of the cookie.

The smacking sound made a shiver go down your spine.

You shook it off and nodded while opening the documents Watari sent you.

You couldn't help your leg trembling because of the stress. How would you possibly find the death note back? would you ever see Ryuk again?

After about fifteen minutes the both of you were done reading, but something did not sit right with you. A small article stated that Kurou Otoharada died of a heart attack even though he was perfectly healthy.

The dots were quickly connected, this definitely was the death note. It was probably his first victim, he just served as a test.

"Ryuzaki, look at this for a moment please." You said while your eyes where glued to the screen.

L looked over on your screen for a moment, it was awfully quiet for a few seconds until L broke the silence.

"Hmm, do you think this had something to do with the criminals? Why?" L asked, his toes curled in a strange way downwards.

'Concentrate' you said to yourself.

"His crime was not as serious as all the others, but that's not the most interesting part.

It was only broadcasted in Japan, this means that whoever is responsible is likely in Japan." You spoke rapidly. You looked back at L who was chomping away on a few marshmallows.

A spark grew inside L's eyes as he stopped chewing and gazed into the nothingness for a few moments. His eyes widened slightly and he started to ramble:

"This must mean Otoharada was just a test subject. So, the killer hasn't been killing for very long. But how does he kill? Doesn't he have to be present on the crime scene?

This is absurd, almost god like. No, there must be another reason for this abnormal behavior" L ranted to himself.

"We could try and set up a trap. The killer only targets criminals, he must think he indeed is some kind of god. People with a god complex don't like to lose so we could try and let him make a mistake." The excitement in you voice grew.

If we could just catch this pity killer, then your problems would be solved. You just had to figure out a way to snatch the death note and leave.

A frown grew on L's face

"A setup? This might actually work. Only criminals who's names where broadcasted were targeted,  this information will be useful to us. We just need to figure out how we are going to do this."
