You had finally gotten your own chair and sat next to the detective watching him look trough cases and mumbling "boring" so now and then.

He turned his head to you as he commented:

"You have not eaten anything since you've arrived."

"I didn't want to be rude." You excused yourself.

"Eating is rude?" L whispered while staring at his piece of cake.

"What, oh god no. Please just eat your cake. I just didn't feel like eating, it makes me feel sick."

"You need energy, you know your thinking abilities go down a lot if you have little energy." He said seriously.

"I know."

"Would you like some of my cake?" L asked while sweetly offering you the piece of cake.

"Sure, only if you get some sleep tonight." You took the strawberry cake out of his cold hands and took a bite, it tasted really sweet but it was actually really good.

"I'm an insomniac."

"Oh, nice."

The oh so familiar questionable look.

"So, Neera. How did you kill those people so quickly? You murdered over 20 in less than an hour."

"Took a Uber to their houses, they're really swift." You told him as you took another bite.

L grunted as he looked back at his screen.

"Since when have you known my true identity? Do any other people know it, that would be a problem."

"No, I mean if someone would.. you know.. shoot 'em"

"Shoot 'em?"

"Politely."

L's dark eyes stared right in mine in a slight shock, just keeping silent.

"Jesus I was only kidding, can't you take a joke?" I asked in slight frustration.

"Hm, I don't like jokes."

"Of course you don't." You mumbled.

"Anyway, how did you end up here?" You continued the conversation.

"What do you mean?"

"You don't just become a detective with "no identity", how did you get here?"

"Watari raised me, I owe everything to him. When I was eight he found me and took me to his orphanage. He assisted me in cases ever since, but you won't be able to use any of that against me. Trust me on that." He told you in one breath.

Impressive.

"I don't doubt it, anyway, It's getting late. I'd like to go to sleep soon. Do you want me on the couch again? You may be an insomniac but I sure am not."

"We have a bedroom next to this one."

"I may hope you will take the cuff off, or I swear to god I will fight you again."

"Fine, but I will lock the door. Just to be safe, I still suspect you will murder me without hesitation." He spoke in his usual monotone voice.

"Thank you, I promise I won't kill you yet."

"What." He said quietly while his eyes widened once again.

"Joke!"

"Right, I've already told you I don't like them." He grumbled.

"That's the point."

He gave you the questionable look again before standing up and walking towards a plain grey door.

You could see how bad his posture really was from sitting so weirdly all the time, but you decided not to comment on it. He'd probably have his reasons not to do anything about it.

You swiftly got up and followed the slim man. He unlocked the door and then he turned to you. You showed him your wrist and he unlocked the cuff.

Tired you lagged inside the room and the door closed and locked behind you. The room was very plain but slightly decorated to make it look somewhat nicer.

There was a window, the moonlight shined trough it lighting the room a little bit.

Maybe you could try and escape trough that, but not tonight. You where absolutely drained.

There was a big bed with dark blue bedding in the middle of the room and you just sat on it for a while.

Being locked up made you feel uneasy, but the privacy was nice. It was a very mixed feeling that's for sure.

You started playing with your ring again, you really missed your big friend to talk to. You took the ring off for a moment and a shiver went trough your spine. As you put it back on again the shiver came right back.

Moments later, a big dark shadow appeared in the corner of the room.

A oh so familiar voice spoke to you:

"Missed me little one?"

You almost could not contain you happiness in this moment, you jumped up and ran to the shinigami to hug him. You did make sure to keep quiet, you could not afford L knowing your "invisible friend" had returned.

"Oh my god Ryuk I've missed you so much." You whispered happily.

"You've grown a lot! So, your life has gotten a bit more... hm how should I put this. Interesting?" He chuckled.

"It sure did Ryuk, how did you find me?"

"As soon as you put that ring back on your finger I went to come see you." He grinned.

"Damn you." You almost spoke too loud out of happiness.

After some catching up between the two of you you laid back on your bed, extremely tired from the last days you fell into a deep sleep.

You woke up covered in sweat and gasping for air, nightmares about the institution really enjoyed to hunt you. You sat up and watched the bright moon, wasn't she gorgeous. Always so peaceful.

Slight humming interrupted your thoughts, you slowly got out of the bed as your bare feet touched the cold floor. Tiptoeing to the door and putting your ear right onto the chilly door.

Your ears had not fooled you, the deep purring voice was humming a song. At first you could almost not contain your laughter as you saw the look on Ryuks face. But the longer you listened the more calming it became.

After a while you just sat with your back against the door, listening to the voice. It reminded you of Neera and that calmed you down a lot.

The room did not make you feel uneasy anymore, it almost made you feel safe as you closed your eyes and fell right back to sleep.

The door opened and you fell right trough, on the ground. You where immediately awake as you stared up to the detective standing above you.

His hair had gotten really poofy and he looked even more tired than he usually did.

"Why are you on the floor?"

Ryuk started laughing hysterically.
