"Yo, we're not going back to class," said Trent in a hushed tone... Well, hushed for a giant.

"What?" I questioned nervously as I gazed up into his huge deep brown eyes.

"Sorry, that probably sounded scary... I mean, we don't have to go back to class if you don't want to."

"You're in my class?" I questioned. Come to think of it, I was in class for such a short period of time, I didn't get a chance to take in anything outside of the other two humans in that class.

"Yea, um... I'm the one who caught you earlier," said Trent in an unsure, awkward tone.

"Oh my gosh! I didn't realize. Thank you so much!"

"I'm sorry Billy just grabbed you like that. He's makin us big guys look bad, you know?" explained Trent as his lips formed a brief smile.

"Apparently I owe Billy an apology," I responded in a dry tone.

"What?!" Trent exclaimed. His body jerked with his response and I found myself hugging his thumb for support. Omg that was so embarrassing.

"Sorry, I forget a little movement probably feels... less little to you," Trent mumbled in an embarrassed tone.

"You're fine. And yeah, um... I'm Morgan by the way. I didn't mean anything with that Billy kid earlier, I guess I just freaked out," I admitted looking down at the ground (or his hand) at the end.

"Pleasure to properly meet you Morgan. I'm Trent. I gotta ask, why would you think you owe Billy anything?"

"I did bite him," I said sheepishly.

"That's so bada5s," Trent said as his face broke out in a full unapologetic grin.

"Well, that's not how Mr. Marshall saw it,"

"Yo, that idiot grabbed you like a doll. He could use a few more bites and punches to knock some sense in him if you ask me," joked Trent.

Yikes he said, 'like a doll'. It's kind of a derogatory phrase, to refer to humans as dolls. Joe would flip out at the term. Calling a human a doll is similar to us calling giants... The M word. It's not as bad as the M word, but still a dehumanizing phrase.

I'm pretty sure Trent caught his mistake in using the phrase and clenched his jaw.

"Yo, I'm sorry. I shouldn't have used that word so freely," admitted Trent as he stopped moving and stood up against a wall outside of what appeared to be a classroom.

"It's all good. This whole situation is going to take a lot of getting used to for all of us," I said looking up at him with as bright a smile as I could muster.

The two of us stayed outside in the hall for the next 6 minutes talking. Other than the whole me flitting in his hand thing, it was pretty normal. Or as normal as it can be to talk to a handsome boy who you met when they defended your honor. OMG I'm so dramatic.

We were chatting away, and dare I say it, having quite a pleasant conversation when I jumped at a massive ringing sound.

"Ahhh!" I screamed at the abrupt sound. I involuntarily gripped onto his thumb yet again in a tight squeeze.

Trent chuckled before saying, "It's just the bell Morgan. The periods over."

Right as he finished his statement, giant after giant barreled into the hallway. I've never seen this many rowdy teenage giants in my life. It was intimidating to say the least. I mean, I fully understand why there are separate halls for humans now. With giants everywhere like this, it would not be a pretty sight for us humans I thought with a gulp.

Trent held me protectively to his chest as if to shield me from the crowd of giants filing into the hallway. After all of the giants seemed to leave the class we were stood outside of, Trent turned to enter the classroom. On our way in we were stopped by a REALLY loud giant.

"YOOOOO!!!! My dude! I can't believe you and Billy today! That Sh#t was CRAZY!"

"Hey, bring it down Logan," Trent responded as he lifted his hand with me in it higher as to show this obnoxious Logan who he was holding... me.

"Oh my God! Hey little Miss, I"m Logan!" this new giant apparently named Logan said as he bent down so his face was level with Trent's hand... and me.

"Uh, Hi," I said, more timid than I would have liked. It was kind of jarring to just have a massive face you don't know jump up in your space like that while you're stuck in a hand. Oyyy.

"Dude, chill, you're freaking her out," Trent scolded.

"I'm just getting a better look at her bro!"

"Well back up dude. No one wants your giant a5s face up in their business," Trent said, causing me to burst out laughing.

The two giants froze at the sight of me laughing. Uh oh... is laughing not okay? I mean I laugh with Joe all the time... So did my Mom. Maybe it's a cultural no? - I thought as I shut down my laughing fit and looked up at the two giants looking at me with wide eyes.

"Sorry?" I said up to them with a most likely worried expression on my face.

"Dude this one's so cool!" Logan exclaimed.

"Yea, I think we should all start calling her 'Morgan the bada5s'," Trent joked as he started moving past Logan and further into the classroom. Trent had taken us back to Mrs. Hollaway's class so I could reunite with my e-scooter. How thoughtful.

When I finally made contact with the ground (aka the human desk area... so the giant desk) I looked back up at Trent and Logan to say goodbye when a voice killed the moment.

"Run along now boys! Let Morgan get to class!"

It was Mrs. Hollaway. I looked up at her and gave her an awkward wave.

"Morgan, I'm terribly sorry for how your first day in my class went. I'm glad to see you and Mr. Reed have become friendly. You two will be partnering for the multimedia presentation, due Friday"

"Wait, Mrs. H, Trent is my partner," Logan complained.

"Logan, Billy will be your new partner. Everyone understand?"

"Fine." said Logan.

"Watch that attitude Logan!" Mrs. Hollaway scolded.

After taking in that conversation, I looked up at Trent who had an uncomfortable look on his face. Great, he was clearly less than enthusiastic about being partnered with me. Well, join the club buddy. The whole reason I was in this mess in the first place was because no one wanted to be partnered with me.

"Mrs. Hollaway, I'll do the project with Billy," I suggested. The three giants, Mrs. Hollaway, Logan, and Trent, looked at me like I'd lost my mind.

"I don't want to cause any more disruptions," I elaborated over the painful silence.

"No you won't, I'll be your partner," Trent said with a pinch of anger behind his words. But what was he angry about, being my partner, or me being partners with Billy?

"I think Billy has some things to learn about interacting with humans. He's not going to learn them from not interacting," I explained with a confidence I know my mom and Joe would be proud to see."

"You are one brave girl Morgan. If you insist, then yes, you will be partnered with Billy. Any signs of funny business though, and I'm switching, understand?" Mrs. Hollaway said before turning back to the board to pull up files for the next class.

I climbed onto my e-scooter ready to ride onto the elevator so I could book it to my next class, when a large hand landed in front of me.
