AVERY POV:

I tiredly sat up in the bed. I was still freezing and my hair was a mess from going to bed with it being wet. I hadn't been sleeping though. When I got back I changed into warm, dry clothes and went to bed.

I couldn't sleep. I tried, but it was impossible. I couldn't stop looking at the door because I had this fear that Louis would find a way in.

I sat on the roof for at least forty minutes last night. After putting the phone away I waited. I waited for him to find me. He never did. Or he just didn't care and just wanted me out of the way. Maybe he never chased me, he just pretended so that he could scare me. It sure as hell worked.

After about twenty minutes of waiting I felt the first raindrops hit me. It started with light rain, but gradually became worse. The wind was freezing and the rain made it worse. I refused to risk anything though. I put my hood up and stayed seated, waiting for the door to open and Louis to find me.

Forty minutes of sitting in the exact same spot, I thought to myself that Louis killing me could barely be worse than sitting here. So I stood up and slowly moved to the front of the empty roof that was now also filled with puddles.

I opened the door and listened for any noise, but it was painfully quiet. I stepped inside and let the door fall shut behind me as my cold, shaking legs moved down each step in caution. I listened carefully for any noise as my dripping hair clung to the sides of my face.

My jaw was shaking from how cold I was. My hand gripping the railing was pale, slowly going into a red colour as they heat up.

I eventually got to the floor I ran from forty-five minutes ago. I slowly opened it and listened for any noise. I barely heard anything so I opened it a bit to look out.

My heart stopped and my stomach felt like it was turning inside out when I saw Louis stand further down the hall. He shot his head to the side as he heard the door. He met my eyes and I was getting ready to sprint down the stairs in order to get away.

But he didn't make any attempt of chasing me again. Instead he kept looking at me, scanning me up and down, before swiping his card through the door and taking a step in.

I felt confused in how he would just let me go. He seemed so angry and determined to get rid of me. Now he had a second chance to catch me but he's just going to let me go?

"I'm sorry" he says, almost rudely before disappearing into his room. I stand still in the door, actually making sure he's not going to come back out before I slowly shuffle down the hallway towards my room.

I didn't feel convinced at all about Louis's apology. He didn't say it with any compassion. He said like kids say it when they actually don't want to, but their teacher makes them apologize. He had looked at me with no facial expression.

I grabbed the card from my pocket. My hand was shaking from the cold when I brought it up to the lock to swipe it through the lock. This time the card worked. I suppose I just stressed it and that was the reason I didn't get in before.

I walked into my dark, empty room and flicked the lights on. I was quick to kick my wet shoes off and getting the awfully wet clothes off of my body. I grabbed the pile of wet clothes and walked into the bathroom to hang them up so that they could dry before I had to pack them.

I also wrapped a warm towel around my body to dry off. I was way too tired to shower, I just wanted to sleep so I warmed up with the towel before putting my pajamas on. Before I went to bed I put the safety chain on the door.

I went to bed, and since then I've been staring at the door. I refused to turn around in fear of him coming in. I couldn't fall asleep. When the sun went up around 8 AM I stopped trying and got up again.
