Tamaki took a deep breath and looked around the room. Was he looking for exits? Or was he just getting ready to speak? Maybe both.

"Okay. I've got a few stories lined up. What do you wanna hear?" He tilted his head to the side slightly as he spoke, his hands clasped tightly in his lap, as though to keep them from shaking.

"Oh! Uhm, how about how you got landed in here? I'll tell my story of that right after!" You were trying to sound cheerful, as though you hadn't realized he was freaking out. You weren't sure if that was the right move.

But thankfully, he seemed relieved.

"Okay! Uh, well. There was this girl. She was pretty. She was gorgeous. I'd liked her for so long... I got the courage to ask her out. Well, things went well for a while. No, they were perfect. I was blinded, saw everything about her by rose tinted glasses. Eventually, I got to meet her parents. Her mother didn't mind me much. Her father, uh, to put it nicely I guess, he hated everything about me. I mean, fair enough, I was this scraggly blond-haired teen boy... I didn't look like I had much to offer her. Again, he really... really didn't like me.

"It was maybe... I dunno, a while after that... it was a while after that when things started to go wrong between me and her. We... we fought. Well, her father took that as the chance he'd been waiting for. He put me in... in this goddamn game.

"I was in here, confused and hurt and wondering what I'd done. Forced to act with the code. It was then I recognized this place; this was the game she'd always liked playing. Well, the only reason I realized that was because the game started running code that only happens whenever a player starts it up. It was her. I still liked her, so I played along with the role of this... character.

"Whenever I was thrown into the game, the main love interest changed... to look more like me. Because it was me. I am me. I'm the main love interest now... I hate it. Anyways. I don't think she ever realized I was in here. I still liked her lots, of course, so I made special care that everything played out just the way she wanted it to. I still made her happy. Until..."

Tamaki stopped speaking.

He was shaking.

You reached out and gently put a hand on his shoulder. He looked at you, took a deep breath ad went on.

You kept your hand on his shoulder while he spoke.

"Until uh, she didn't play the game anymore. She just... gave up on it. On me. I didn't - don't - care if she knew I was in here. Maybe she did, maybe she didn't. That doesn't matter. She left me, regardless. And I've been stuck in this hell ever since. I don't remember my name, I don't remember where I lived, I don't remember anything except for her and her monster of a father."

Tamaki slammed his fist on the small coffee table in front of you both.

"It's- it's not fair! I've been in here for god knows how long, rotting, feeling like I'm dead. I've forgotten everything that makes me, me. I... I've lost everything about myself except the anger, the gnawing fury I have for the demon that landed me in here... I..."

He looked up, tears swimming in those crystalline blue eyes of his.

"...I have you now. I have someone to talk to. I have someone to share everything with. I have someone. You're the best thing that's happened to me since I got stuck in here..."

He smiled at you.

Your heart exploded on the spot. It fucking exploded.

He...

You made an indecipherable noise and grabbed a pillow.

He sat up straighter and looked at you in concern.

"Hey- are- are you okay?"

You removed the pillow from in front of your face. "I am... most definitely... not okay. I- stop looking at me with your eyes please they're too pretty-"

You buried your face in the pillow again.

"Okay, look, deepest sympathies for what you went through- I'm so sorry that asshole did that to you but. I understand I'm really not acting like I should here but your eyes, man. I think I'm gonna melt if I look at them again."

He leaned over. You weren't expecting it at all and you squeaked into your pillow.

Tamaki spoke, his voice softer than usual.

"In that case, don't put your hands on my shoulders again. If you do, I'm gonna melt."
