Y/N and Nanami were sitting on the terrace the night growing colder by the minute. They had left the party ages ago and been now hanging atop the town square tower with a bunch of other New year goers.
They didn't stand out at all, Nanami liked that.
His nose was red, puffs of air leaving his lips in gentle clouds.
Y/N being Y/N had convinced him to buy ice cream with her in freezing weather. Making the valid point that it was the perfect time to do so because it wouldn't melt.
"I have something to give you" the women finally chirped, she rummaged through her bag and he froze, the popsicle hovering at his mouth.
"Give me? Y/N it isn't Christmas, you-"
"I know you don't have anything to give me that's fine, I'm not expecting anything. Because I wanted you to have this"
They were standing at the fence that had a clear view of the city below them, the fireworks would be out soon. She handed him a small package wrapped up in a Christmas wrapper. It made him realize how little time Nanami had spent with her.

Carefully he opened it, gently pulling out a yellow leopard print tie.
He let out a laugh of disbelief.
"Y/N you're unrelenting"
"Put it on"
she was already fumbling with the knot on his tie and he had to stifle a snort at the look of excitement in her eyes.
After a couple of minutes, she finally smoothed down his shirt with a grin.
"Next year you can get me a surprise gift"
"of course"
she suddenly averted her gaze shyly tucking back her scarf. The fur on her coat was sticking to her face and he unconsciously brushed a hand over her cheek, catching her attention.
"Sorry, my h-"
She clasped it with two hands, pressing it back to her face and leaning into it.
"Nanami thank you for taking me out for New Years, I haven't had this much fun in a while "

they stared at each other at a loss of words and she finally spoke up.
"It's been on my mind, it really has, but you're always so guarded, around me, I mean"
She swallowed struggling to find the words. Nanami let his hand brush the bottom of her chin his thumb gently resting beneath her bottom lip.
"It's like you're afraid , I mean I am too, but it makes me wonder what are you scared of? I'm not leaving anytime soon so I thought, maybe if I could prove it things would be different"
