lingering eyes shifting, burning into your conscience. wax painted, an iridescent pop, throwback to the 70s. 17; the height of life. as teens crave the pop of the pill - follow the leader. blank space state of mind. eyes blurry like a disorientating hallucinogenic, her body speaks but she can't answer. can't understand and can't explain. so in her mind she lies and says she's okay.
one look and she falls down the rabbit hole, her heart addicted, always gravitating. she can't help but look toward the window, the reflection drawing her in – infatuated. each movement desire grows within. the root burrowing, reaching the depths of her fractured heart like a wilted rose. she falls through the bed, through the cracks as the digits shift by sluggishly.
to build a home on the ground, a place of melancholy déjà vu and discomfort. a mental nosebleed every time there's flashes on green - reminded of his absence. green. everywhere. his favourite colour. oblivious to the numb sensation every time it hits, the droplets of euphoria that haunt her. their relationship is a juxtaposition, perpetual heartburn. creatures of the night scheming, growing suspicions. paranoia tearing through, sinking like a shipwreck. like a washing machine, a redundant cycle. someone would need to call a paramedic.
the ifs, the buts.. did he look at my back when I left? her imagination a fate she can't run away from. can't escape. a poisonous cocktail; they do not mix well and she is familiar. a broken promise – cut through like thread. attempting to suture the damage. a deafening cry for help. begging. dainty; frail but strong. but a foundation can only defend itself for so long. freckles of pain, the fragments exposed. only lucid dreams could wash out the pain – or bring it back. she searches for a way to numb the pain; hypnotic beats and angelic voices echo and resound within her, music her lifeline. an attempt at rehabilitation. only one can speak the same language, other a novice; still barely learning.
dull colours, ripped fabrics and chains accurately communicate without a mumble. red in the cracks of her fingernails, a desire that the flames are burning out. smoke rages from the creases of her eyes, a natural makeup. her foundation built by mind, as she is her own architect. she manipulates the laws of physics, as her unrequited love never ceases to surprise.
