i don't know
how long this will last
but
i know that i want
to spend as much
time with you
as possible
however long that may be
i'm afraid of letting go
as much at the thought
of losing you
these mellow moments
i've longed, hoped for
oh, how i've wished for
to be present
just...
there.
to go to a market
eat exotic food, tease each other
and laugh till our stomachs ache
to lay underneath the stars
in a sea of moonlight
with a blanket on a bed of grass
and the fresh scent of petrichor
to sit side by side
in each other's arms
and joke about
our depiction
of what we think the strangers
around us are talking about
to walk in local designer stores
and try on their best clothes
like we own them
to critique over ridiculous hats and laugh
make people stare
with flushed cheeks
they can taste the love
in the air
fairy lights
like little fireflies
to stare at each other
like long lost friends
getting lost
in the depth
of our eyes
so beautiful; glowing
as if we could take them down
and cup them
in the palm of our hands
i want
silly small, personalised gifts
and random inside jokes
sarcastic threats
to impersonate our best accents
the spontaneous
the 'why are we waiting?'
trust, loyalty
forgiveness and understanding
passion and hope
walking down
unfamiliar streets
in a silent neighbourhood
to listen to our favourite melodies
at we point out
planes and birds
heavenly clouds
passing by
to ask random questions
run a Q&A
while it's raining at night
passing crosswalks
while traffic lights illuminate the road
to simply
be with
the person i love
the most.
