Chapter 11 // H+D shenanigans

Hermione's POV // January 10th

"ah, home sweet home" I laid on the Slytherin common room sofa

Christmas was great, I got loads of presents and had fun with my family, oh and friends from home who don't go to Hogwarts

I also found out that someone broke into the restricted section but apparently never found anything because nothing was taken

I was right

"HEY HERMIONE" I looked up from where I was laying and saw Draco walking towards me 

"hi" he nodded to wren in acknowledgment, they were non-stop bickering over Christmas 

"come with me, Longbottom decided that eating my apple was a good idea" I put my hand on my heart, pretending to be shocked 

"How dare he! This is totally barbaric! Round up the dementors!" Wren laughed and Draco scowled 

"fine, did he know it was yours?" he shook his head "then why are we doing whatever we're gonna do?" he shrugged 

"fine" I stood up "good enough for me, bye wren" she waved as we walked away

"where is he then?" he pointed to a space that was a few steps away right in front of us, where a boy was standing fiddling with a plant "ah, what are we gonna do?" he shrugged 

"no idea," I thought for a moment... 

"I know, we can't do something to hurt him obviously because the teachers will find out so... let's do something that'll embarrass him" he nodded, still in deep thought 

"a legalower cast?" he suggested 

"that's a good one, c'mon" as soon as we reached Longbottom he looked absolutely terrified 

"look Long-" I interrupted him 

"can we not do the whole speech thing? I have much more important things to do, just do the jinx" he scowled 

"what, like sitting on the sofa all day?" I laughed non-humorously  

"no, like planning your murder" I smiled innocently when his face dropped "exactly, now just do it" he sighed and turned back to the apple-eater 

"fine" he pointed his wand at him and announced the incantation "crura gelida" 

 on cue, his legs stuck together and he fell to the floor

"you owe me for coming with you to do that by the way" we mocked him when he tried to get up but failed miserably 

"Right, I need to go to the library" he gave me a 'why-would-you-ever-do-that' look "you know what, I'm not gonna study for my end of term exams, I'll be trying to find the most painful ways to torture my brothers best mate instead shall I?" he shook his head vigorously 

"good, bye then" I walked away, it's so easy to manipulate him

I was reading a book about the difference between the magic used through your body and the magic channeled through a wand when the trio walked in 

"Time for a break I think" I whispered to myself, I put the book on the bookshelf and hid behind it to hear what they were saying

"of course, here it is!" she was reading a big book "Nicholas Flamel is the only known maker of the Sorcerers stone" oops, there was another book, that backfired 

"the what?" the two boys chorused

"Honestly, don't you two read? The sorcerer's stone is a legendary substance with astonishing powers, it can transform any metal into pure gold, and produces the elixir of life, which will make the drinker immortal" she read the whole thing, why would they need to know that? 

"immortal?"

 wow you can really tell which one is the dumb one out of the three 

"It means you'll never die" how the hell does she put up with them? 

"I know what it means!" someone's aggressive 

"shh!" 

"The only stone currently existing belongs to Mr. Nicholas Flamel, the noted alchemist who last year celebrated his 665th birthday" well he's old, isn't he? "that's what fluffy's guarding on the third floor, that's what's under the trap door; the sorcerer's stone" who knew you could get so much information from eavesdropping? 

"We need to go see Hagrid, tonight" I ran out of the library to find Draco

"they're going to Hagrid? Why?"

 I shrugged "something about a Fluff covering a trapped door? I dunno but they're going tonight, like after-hours" 

"so we follow them?" 

I nod "so we follow them"

"Alright, let's go"

It's already after curfew so we needed to go like, now

"they're over there!" I whispered after we had gotten out of the castle, three silhouettes were running towards the cabin, their robes billowing in the wind 

"let's wait until they're inside though" we hid behind a tree and waited a minute or two after they were inside to go up to the window and see what was happening

Hagrid had a weird-looking brown egg on the large round table, everyone was sitting around, eventually, it hatched

"is that?..."

"a dragon" I whispered at the same time Parkinson said it 

"that's not just a dragon" oh yeah because you know SO much about dragons "that's a Norwegian Ridgeback, my brother Charlie works with them in Romania" never mind 

"isn't he beautiful" not really no "oh, bless him Look he knows his mummy, hello Norbert," I thought Hagrid was a guy? 

"Norbert?"

"Yeah, well he's gotta have a name, don't he? don't you Norbert oh!" the creature spat fire at 'his mummy' "well, he'll have to be trained up a bit o' course" he patted his beard, getting the sparks out

"who's tha?" he was looking directly at us, they all turned 

"oh no" we looked at each other before running, the last thing we heard was 

"Malfoy and Zabini!"

We ran back to McGonagall and told her everything, excluding the parts about us of course

"and worse Malfoy and Zabini know!" I heard Weasel from the other side of the wall 

"I don't understand," neither noticed me, Draco, and McGonagall coming around the corner 

"is that bad?" 

Weasel nodded toward us "it's bad"

"good evening" 

I and Draco stood around from behind McGonagall, smirking
