Ever since that first Tuesday doing homework with Cedric in the library, we've made it a weekly thing. He's actually good to be around when I need to concentrate, he makes sure I have everything done and helps me if I get stuck on something. For my birthday, the twins had planned for all of us to go down to the lake just before midnight on the 27th and let twelve balloons fly away and light sparklers to celebrate me turning twelve and then on the 28th they let me decide what we were all going to do after classes. All I wanted to do was hang out with my friends around the castle. And that's exactly what we did. Setting off a few dung bombs in random places as we went along of course.
Today was the dreaded day we head home for Christmas. I was just heading out of the common room to go down to breakfast, everyone else had already left fifteen minutes ago because I wanted to finish packing and they were just 'too starving to wait'. I was just leaving through the portrait when I hear...
"Finally, what took you so long?"
"Ohh hey Cedric, I didn't know you were here waiting."
"I asked Fred to go tell you I was waiting."
I haven't even seen Fred this morning. "Ohh I probably wasn't listening as usual." I don't know why he didn't tell me. He hasn't been himself since the day he swung himself off his broom.
We walked down to breakfast talking about what we were going to be doing over the Christmas holidays and once we got to the great hall, we hugged goodbye and went to sit at our house tables. As I turned, I seen Fred look away from my direction and hang his head as if he was upset about something.
Fred's POV
George, Lee and I were just leaving the common room going through the portrait when someone said my name...
"Aww perfect, Fred would you mind going to tell Mel I'm here waiting for her?"
"Yea, yea no bother mate." I went back into the common and sat there for a minute. I don't know why but I hated the fact that Cedric was getting close to Lissa. I had absolutely no intension of going up and telling her. Since that first Tuesday they did their homework in the library together they've been doing it every Tuesday.
I went back out of the common room hoping that was enough time to make it look like I had gone up and told her. "She'll be down in a minuet she's just getting ready."
"Thanks Fred."
The three of us went on down to breakfast. "Why is he always around now I thought they only spent time together on a Tuesday in the library?" I asked rhetorically.
"This is literally the first time I've seen them together outside of the library mate." Said George.
"Why don't you like them spending time together Fred?" Asked Lee.
"I don't think Cedric just wants to be friends if you know what I mean."
"So, you like Melissa?" Said Lee.
"He's obsessed with her, how can you not tell?" Said George.
"I am not!"
"Aye alright, if you're not then why do you care if her and Cedric are getting closer?" Asked George.
"I don't really, but Lissa has said she's not looking for something like that and like I said I think Cedric is looking more."
"Whatever you say mate." Said Lee.
Lissa's POV
I went over to my friends and sat down beside Maddi, facing Fred. I was going to ask him why he didn't come to tell me Cedric was waiting for me but he looked genuinely upset about something, so I just shrugged it off.
