"Then we can share"

I stared at him, stared at his grey eyes as I tried to hold in whatever it was that didn't want to come out. I wanted to stare at him long enough to make him think I was staring at his soul. It came down to us staring each other down, waiting to see who would collapse first. Our contest lasted until Evelyn took her spoon and shoveled some fruit from the boys plate and shoved it in my mouth.

She continued to shove fruit in my mouth until it felt like I was going to die from eating. The boy took his share, and was encouraged by Evelyn to feed me as well. Although, she had not verbally encouraged him, it was more like he watched her and thought it was a good idea to join. Now, there had been two people feeding me until I felt like I could no longer consume anything else in my life. The boy had been watching me the whole time as I laid my head against the table struggling to remember the reason why I was brought into this world.

"Mems!" Evelyn spoke, in the same cheerful manner as always.

"Come on come on!"

He was silent, and keeping to himself now as he watched me. He didn't stop watching me, but it wasn't in a bad way, it seemed more like he was just observing.

Then he moved forwards, reaching for my shoulder as his hand then rested on it. He lowered his head to my eye level and looked at me.

"Are you Ok?" He asked

I jolted up but too fast for my head to catch up which led to a huge dizziness. I glanced over at him and nodded.

"Mhm.."

"Are you sure?"

"Absolutely"

The bell rang and Evelyn wrapped her arms around one of my arms and strolled off. She took me to our next class where we had assigned seats together, it felt suffocating, like Everyones eyes were on me. At least I thought they were looking at me, but it soon came to mind, the question I commonly ask myself 'Why would they look at someone like me?' And then I realized, it was Evelyn they were looking at.

I felt dumb for not knowing already that the only reason they would look at me was if Evelyn was NOT there. But I guess it is not much of a surprise that she's getting all the attention, after all she is beautifully stunning. And now it felt like they questioned why I was so friendly with such a gorgeous figure. By now I should already be used to it, the way people act around me and how they think of me. After all I've always been low to middle-class when it comes to looks. Even I can't help but blush and go red at the sight of Evelyn. My childhood friend whose practically a model, the one who cried with me, stood with me and so much more. Her looks were only a plus to the amazing personality she has and the way she is so kind hearted and loving towards me. The past years we have been away from each-other left a huge canyon in my soul.

By the time Evelyn and I finished our assignment, there had been plenty of time left in class. This assignment was supposed to take the whole period, but with us being done our teacher allowed us to do what we wanted in the time being and not disturb others.

I chose the simplest thing, drawing. Evelyn had her head on my shoulder as she watched the lines and curves come to life. It was such a carefree feeling, one that I would come to enjoy.

Our class period ended and Evelyn and I parted ways again. Soon all our classes were finished and we headed to our lockers to get things and go home.

Evelyn and I started to walked home together, just the few steps taken already had sure enough made me feel even better, the same way when we were kids walking home together.

I came across my street and waved goodbye to Evelyn, walking down the seemingly endless road until my stop came to view.
