No matter how hard he tried to ignore it, Lindsey couldn't escape Fleetwood Mac. They seemed to be everywhere. He didn't watch much TV or read celebrity magazines, but Cheri did. And Lindsey often stumbled upon an interview or caught a glimpse of a picture. On one hand, he was happy for them. There was still great interest in the band, but on the other hand, a small part of him had hoped that they would fail without him. He couldn't explain it, it was just how he felt.
Lindsey could deal with reading something from Mick or Christine, but he couldn't handle seeing Stevie. The last time they saw each other, she seemed heartbroken and that was the image he carried every day since. He wanted for her to stay angry, he wanted her to yell and beat him up for pushing her. No, she cried. She cried, because he hurt her.
The absolute worst part about Fleetwood Mac being on such a high, was recent pictures of Stevie. Lindsey never understood, what people meant by saying that pregnant women had a certain glow. Now he knew. He saw it on the woman he loved and he finally understood. It was obvious that she was sober, he knew it from the way she looked and from the way she spoke. She was taking care of herself at last.
More than once Lindsey had thought of contacting Stevie. Realizing what a massive mistake he had made, he wanted to see her or at least have her pick up the phone, when he called her. He had no clue, what possessed him to question her. He knew it in his heart, he knew she was carrying his baby. But he had already told the band he was leaving, he had made that decision, he couldn't just go back on his word. It made sense to him then, it didn't make sense to him anymore. Unfortunately, Lindsey knew Stevie too well. Even if he tried, she wouldn't want anything to do with him.
"Well, that was fast."
Lindsey didn't ask, what Cheri meant by saying that. He brought his nearly empty bottle of beer up to his lips, his eyes remained glued to the TV.
"She wastes no time, does she."
She. Stevie? Lindsey turned his head slightly and Cheri showed him the magazine she was reading.
'Fleetwood Mac's Stevie Nicks' newest love interest'
Lindsey gritted his teeth, reading the headline in big, bold letters. He snatched the magazine from Cheri without saying a word.
'The famous singer, who rose to fame, when she joined Fleetwood Mac alongside her then boyfriend, Lindsey Buckingham, was seen enjoying a cozy dinner with the newest addition to the band - guitarist Rick Vito. Vito replaced Buckingham after he had decided to part ways with Fleetwood Mac. An inside source confirmed that the pair have been spending a lot of time together. After the intimate dinner, Nicks and Vito were seen leaving hand in hand.'
"Don't tell me, you're jealous." Cheri raised an eyebrow at him, when Lindsey tossed the magazine on the coffee table in front of him.
"I'm not jealous. Besides, you should know better than to believe the tabloids." He said and rose to his feet to get another bottle.
He knew it, she wanted nothing to do with him.
