The last thing Stevie wanted to do was sit through auditions of potential replacements for Lindsey. Everyone in the band quickly realized that they very likely were going to need two people. The current four members of Fleetwood Mac had already sat through one of these sessions before, but nobody had piqued their interest. Unfortunately, they were pressed for time. Stevie's pregnancy was another bombshell and it greatly sped up the upcoming tour, which was also going to be a lot shorter than initially planned.
"I recognize some of the faces." Christine said, taking a seat next to Stevie, who looked completely uninterested.
"I just want us to pick someone and go home." Stevie sighed, uncapping a bottle of water.
"We need to lower our expectations." Christine lowered her voice, she didn't want one of the hopefuls to overhear. "We already know that none of them will come close to Lindsey."
Stevie clenched her fist at the mention of his name. "Move on, Christine."
She frowned. "Have you moved on?"
"It's different." Stevie sighed, looking straight ahead at nothing in particular. "I'll have his child to remind me of him."
Christine gave her a sympathetic look. "I'm sorry, I didn't think. Has Lindsey contacted you?"
"No." Stevie shook her head. "All the contact I've had with him was that interview he did recently. You know the one, where he couldn't confirm or deny the rumors that I'm pregnant, because he doesn't know."
Christine knew. She was the one, who had to calm Stevie down, after she'd read it. "It wasn't very nice of him to say that."
"Well, he clearly doesn't want anything to do with us, so..." Stevie trailed off, her hand now protectively placed over her tiny bump. "I don't need him. I won't drop to my knees and beg him to be a part of his child's life."
"They say, it takes a village, and you have one, Stevie." Christine smiled, giving her hand a supportive squeeze as she showed to all of the members of the extended Fleetwood Mac family.
Minutes later, the two women were joined by Mick and John. They took their seats and the first musician in hopes to join the band stood in front of them. Nobody had heard of him before and he admitted to not having a lot of prior experience, which showed.
"Thank you." Mick forced a smile, then glanced at the others. "Uh, we'll get in touch with you." Not likely. "Okay, who's next." Mick looked at the piece of paper in his hand. "Oh, Rick Vito?" He grinned, seeing someone he already knew. "Come join us, mate."
"Thanks for having me." Rick smiled back at Mick as they shook hands.
"I didn't know, you were interested. We could have done this differently." Mick said, but the other man waved it off.
"I have no problem with showing you what I've got." Rick shrugged, then moved over to say a quick hello to John and Christine, before he stopped in front of Stevie. "Very nice to meet you."
"Nice to meet you, too." Stevie sat up straight in her seat, she didn't mind Rick holding her hand in his for longer than necessary. "I can't believe that Mick hasn't introduced us before."
Rick laughed lightly, shrugging his shoulders. "Better late than never, right?"
"I'd say so." Stevie nodded, her smile grew wider.
Mick cleared his throat loudly to get the attention of the two. "Rick? I believe, you've wanted to show us, what you can do with that guitar?"
