VIBING WITH A MENTAL ILLNESS;

"C'mon, please! You'll love him!" Reki shouted, dragging you by the arm into his class. Despite your protesting, he still managed to get out of the library.

"Will I though?" you pressed your lips into a fine line making him groan.

"Just this once! For me!" he begged with puppy-dog eyes that made your heart melt. You turned your face away slightly and nodded, making him jump with joy.

You had been attending the same school as Reki for almost a year now and some things had definitely changed since you moved to Japan.

Your sexuality for starters.

You never seemed like anything other than straight to yourself and everyone else but as soon as Reki flashed you a smile you knew that you definitely not straight.

And then there was how you became more protective over that someone.

Reki didn't usually bite off more than he could chew but it still happened. He still got injured, he still got up again. He still laughed even when he made a mistake.

But you didn't want to imagine if one day he suddenly became too injured to be healed. That was a nightmare that frequently visited.

"Here he is!" Reki announced to you and the blue-haired boy sitting in front of you both.

"Uh...hello?" He replied, looking at Reki with frightened eyes. He clearly wasn't a social person.

"Y/n meet Langa, Langa meet Y/n!" Reki beamed, pointing at the two of us.

"Why'd you want me to meet him?" you whispered to Reki who punched your arm lightly.

"Don't be so mean," he whispered back. "SO!" he turned his attention back to Langa. "You guys are both from Canada! That's why I wanted you to meet!"

"...yes Reki lots of people are from Canada--" you said sarcastically but a voice cut you off.

"Really? You're from Canada?" Langa asked, sparkles shining in his eyes. He never imagined he would meet someone else from Canada so suddenly, if ever. It made him feel less alone.

'What's with all of these cute guys?!' you thought to yourself, praying that this new kid wasn't a mind reader.

"Uh, yeah...I'm from Canada. I moved here last year. What about you?" You asked hesitantly, still being mindful that you didn't know him or anything about him.

"I just moved here from British Columbia," he said, still staring deep into your eyes. You averted his gaze but he still found a way to keep it connected. That was until--

"I thought British Columbia was a country," Reki stated, putting a hand on his chin.

"..."

"..."

You looked over at Langa who held the same humoured expression as you. You bent over laughing until your stomach hurt. "N-No Reki." you breathed. "Columbia is a country. British Columbia is a province in Canada. On the west side."

"Its the place with some of the best snowboarding mountains."

"Ohhhhh!" Reki said. He sat down in his seat and you sat on his desk. "So! Langa!"

"Oh jeez." you rolled your eyes, knowing what was about to come.

You saw Langa visibly start sweating but he tried to keep the same face.

"What kind of stuff do you eat in Canada?" Reki asked.

"Poutine." He responded.

"And timmies," you added and Reki looked at you puzzled. "Oh, so you know what poutine is but not timmies? Timmies is one of the best creations mankind has ever made. It's got donuts, coffee, hot chocolate, Timbits, grilled cheese, and a shit ton of other stuff."

"Oh so like a Starbucks or a McDonalds--"

"Don't say that." Langa interrupted.

"Ok ok geez! Next thing! Speak Canadian." Reki demanded.

"Sorry," Langa responded quickly making you spit out your water.

"Did--oh my god...Did you just say sorry is Canadian?!" you laughed, amused even more by the two boys.

"What? It's a Canadian trademark." Langa responded so casually it made you laugh even further.

Reki studied at you both with awe and smiled. 'This is gonna be great.'

You eventually stopped laughing and looked back at them when something hit you. "Hey Langa I have to ask you--"

"Hey Langa I have to ask you--"
