VIBING WITH A MENTAL ILLNESS;

Nanako Hasegawa sighed as her son left their apartment. She, along with everyone else, had seen him become sadder. He became more depressed but she didn't want to tell herself that.

Y/n got up from his seat as well, muttered a small "Thank you for the meal." before heading to the door. He turned back, wondering if he should say anything.

"Ms...Mrs. Hasegawa..." he murmured and she turned her head to face him. "I said this to someone else and I'll say it to you. I can't help him,

but I know someone who can."

She nodded, blinking back tears. She silently thanked him as he headed out the door for school. Well, he made it halfway to school before turning down the street that led to the hospital.

He spent the day there. By his sister's side. He needed someone, anyone to be there. And if no one was there for him, he would at least be there for her.

"Reki!" Miya shouted as he watched the elevator doors open.

Unfortunatly (or fortunately. Whichever way you want to look at it) y/n could hear the conversations from a few rooms down.

He felt a pang of guilt hit his heart. They had told Miya they wouldn't leave. They told him that they would never leave him. And they did.

"Miya..." Reki muttered. The elevator doors were going to close once more but Miya put his hands out to stop them.

"Why aren't you showing up?!" he yelled, taking Reki aback. As the conversation escalated y/n felt more and more guilt.

Reki felt like the side character in this situation. Why didn't he realize he was the main character for so many people?

"Wait!" Miya called. "You lying—" he squeaked in surprise as two arms wrapped around him and pulled them in. "Who are you?! Get off me!"

"You don't recognize your own brother?" the voice laughed dryly and he immediately relaxed in y/n's hold.

"You're not my brother...You lied..." he murmured.

"I know," he said, turning the younger boy around and hugging him properly. "I'm sorry. Please take the apology from us all."

"I just want everyone back..." he breathed out. Y/n could feel the tears of the boy trickle down his shirt. "You lied...you..."

"I know, I know." his voice cracked as tears threatened to fall. "I just... It's hard when both your best friends are complete idiots who can't read other people's emotions."

Miya laughed as he pulled away, quickly wiping his tears. His ears turned red when he saw the wet spots on his friends' shirt. "Sorry—"

"Don't worry about it. Just go check on whoever you were here for." he smiled and started walking to the exit.

"Who are you here for?" Miya called but he kept walking.

"A friend. A close friend."

"Where the hell did that kid go?" you groaned. You tugged at your hair before seeing a mop of red hair race to you. Though he wasn't originally racing to you, it was a fortunate coincidence.

Just as Reki was about to skate past you, you put your arm out in front of him. He screamed in surprise as he flew over your arm.

"Wha— y/n!" He exclaimed, dusting his clothes off.

"You need to know something." you started and he looked at you with confusion written across his face.

"Uhm, yeah. Anything." He replied nervously.

"You hurt everyone," you stated bluntly. His eyes widened at your statement. He thought he knew how blunt and truthful you could become, but obviously not. "You hurt Cherry and Joe. You hurt Miya. You even hurt Shadow. You hurt me. You hurt Langa. But the worst part..." you paused, pulling at your hair again. "The worst part is that you hurt yourself."

"That's why I can't blame you," you continued. "I can only blame myself." you let out a dry laugh and he rose to his feet. He put his hands firmly on your shoulder and gripped them tight.

"Please don't blame yourself. I came to find you guys. I came to apologize!" he exclaimed, shaking your shoulders.

"Reki..." you started, taking his hands off. You gripped them in yours. "My fear isn't of you hurting me. It's of me hurting you. And I physically can't bring myself to do that. I just...I can't."

"What are you talking about?" he pulled away. He almost looked offended. "What are you talking about?!"

"I'm going home," you said simply. He expected you to walk off and head to Langa's house, or even his. But you stayed put. It only made him more anxious.

"Are you going to see your Dad? He's in Japan, right?" He urged.

"No, Reki. I'm going home. I'm moving back to Canada."

He stayed silent. He stayed silent for a good 2 minutes before talking once more. "...you're kidding, right? You're just joking around, right?!" he cried, showing his now red eyes.

"I already told Langa. You might wanna go talk to him now," you muttered and turned your back. He reached out to grab your shoulder once more, but you simply avoided it before continuing your walk. "You guys need each other more than you need me."

❛I'd be so lost if you left me alone.

was that angsty enough for you, m'lord?
