VIBING WITH A MENTAL ILLNESS

get ready for some fucking angst cus i want to

"Y/n! Wait!" Reki and Langa called. It was at least past 7 o'clock but they didn't know how late it could be. The winter days were much shorter and they were in Quebec no less.

Ignoring their calls, he continued walking down the dimly lit streets. He knew where he was going while they did not.

"Reki," Langa whispered to his red-haired friend. "We're going to get lost."

"I'm finding him," Reki spoke with his teeth grit. He knew Langa was right, they were going to get lost without a guide but he needed to find his best friend.

They walked down the street, catching some curious glances from a few people. But before they could walk any further, a hand grabbed each of their coats and pulled him into the opposite street.

"I'm attempting to storm off and you guys somehow find yourself in the sketchiest part of town." The voice deadpanned. Both boys snapped their eyes to the hooded figure, relief etched across their faces. Langa was also happy that he wasn't going to die that night, but this was more important.

"Y/n!" Reki exclaimed, throwing his hands around the boy. "You're alright!"

"Of course I am. I know these streets like the back of my hand." Y/n said, taking his hood off of his head. "But what are you guys doing out here? You could've gotten shot."

"Shot?!" Langa shouted and y/n slapped his hand over his mouth.

"Shut up!" He whispered and Langa nodded slowly.

"Are you...still mad at us?" He whispered and Reki looked back to his friend for an answer. Meanwhile, y/n stood with wide eyes.

"I'm not mad at you." He scoffed lightly but his tone went serious once more. "I... Why would I be mad?"

"Well, ya kinda stormed out of your mom's house with a really angry look..." Reki laughed nervously and your lips parted into a small 'o'.

"I just... had to take a step out before I smashed her kitchen." He said and they laughed for the first time that night. But then came the awkward silence of Langa and Reki mentally debating who would ask him.

"Her name's s/n (I'm lazy idk u think of a name)," Y/n said as he started walking. As usual, the two boys followed their friend like lost puppies.   But this time they had a bit more interest than past times.

"I'm not a great storyteller but I'll try my best." He laughed nervously but the others remained silent, waiting patiently with their full attention. "A few years ago my s/n told us she wanted to be a woman and not a man. She was more comfortable and that was what she wanted."
