Chapter Eight - Even to me?

"Ugh." I muttered, holding onto Levi tightly. "Do not get sick." He said to me, glancing back over his shoulder. I don't know if I can hold back much longer to be honest, we've been riding quite awhile now. "You can do it Corporal." Petra called to me, me nodding weakly. "Right! This is nothing!" Gunther agreed, him cheering me on from the left. I felt a sudden booming, making my heart drop. "Blades at the ready, that something will be here in a moment." Levi said, him sensing the danger. Everyone is tense, our team is going in, in the dark. Only Levi and I know what is really happening. . . "Titan!" A voice from the trees called. I turned my head and saw a rather large titan, female and running straight at us. Her ice blue eyes fixed on us. "Oh shit! There's no way we can avoid it in advance inside the forest!" Gunther yelled. "It's so fast! It's catching up to us!" Eld exclaimed, everyone in a panic. "Corporal! Let's switch to the maneovering gear!" Petra called to Levi. "Captain!" I squeezed my eyes shut tigher, me hating the desperation in her voice. I can't do anything here. . . I can't stop our plan now. "The sqaud behind us is backing us up!" All I could hear was the zipping of their gear, the swooshing of the their bodies flying around the titan, but that all came to an abrupt stop. A large slam hit my ears, the titan having squashed them against the trees. Erwin was right; this titan must be human. It is smart, adapting to its circumstance and has a target in mind. "Corporal!! Give us the order!" Petra screamed. "Let's do it corporal! She's really dangerous!" Oluo cried. "We must do it now!" "I'm gonna turn her into mince-meat." Eld said, his voice shaking. "Damn idiot! You'll be only digging your own grave if you try! The squad stationed behind us was comprised of the most skilled experts in killing titans!" Our group began to argue, all of them losing their cool. "Corporal Levi! Give us the order please!" They all screamed. "Everyone, plug your ears." Levi simply said, sending off a loud bang. "Sound grenade?" Eren asked, his ears plugged. "Men, what's your mission again? Was it to lose yourselves to your raging emotions?" Levi asked, me snuggling closer to his back and covering one of my ears with my hand. "That's not what your orders were, now is it? The duty this squad was assigned to, is to do our damnest to make sure this pisspoor brat won't get a single scratch on him. Even if it costs us our lives." Levi said, looking back at everyone. "We're going to keep advancing on horses. Is that clear?"

It was silent for a moment, before Petra yelled "Rodger that sir!" "On horses? But. . ." Eren protested. "Just how long are we gonna keep going like this?! Not to mention that she'll catch up to us very soon. . .More people! Another group of backup! If we help them right now, together we may stand a chance!" "Eren!! You look straight ahead!" Gunther yelled at him. "Gunther - San?" Eren asked. "Stop screwing up the pace! Maintain your fastest running speed!" Eld growled. "Eld - San?" "But why!? Who's going to stop her if not Levi's squad?!" SMASH. "Another person has just lost his life! There was a chance that we could have saved him!" Our squad was quiet. They are confused and scared, but they know that they have to keep going. Their undeying loyalty towards Levi and I are absolute, they will not disobey orders. "The otehr one is still fighting courageously! If we go right now, we can still make it in time!" Eren pleaded, my heart breaking at the sound of his voice. "Eren! Only look ahead and keep moving!" Petra yelled. "Are you telling me to jus tclose my eyes to the desperate battle happening behind us?! To leave my comrades to their death and run for my life is that it?!" "Yes! That's precicely what I am telling you to do. Obey Corporal's order!" "I don't get why I must let my comrades die!! And I also don't get why you're not telling me the reason behind your unwillingess to help them! Why!?" "Cause the corporal judged, its not something he should explain that's why! You don't get it cause you're still a sucker wet behind the ears! And now that you know this, shut the hell up and obey!" Oluo added to Petra's initial statement. I took a breath and turned my head, looking back at them all, at the expressions they wore. This is exactly what I didn't want to see; the pain, the suffering. . .

"Eren! What do you think you're doing?! You're allowed to do that only when your life is in danger! You promised us didn't you?!" Petra suddenly yelled, Eren with his hand to his mouth. "Eren." I breathed, me turning around in the saddle, Levi holding me around the middle with his arm behind his back, making sure I don't fall. "You're not in the wrong about this. If you want to do it, do it." My childhood friends eyes widened, him surprised to hear me speak. "Azure?!" Petra asked, not understanding. "He's a real monster, I know that much and not at all because of his 'titan power'. No matter how much force he's held down with, no matter how strong the cage he is place in; no one will be able to make his spirit submit to their will, I have always known this about him." I replied, taking a deep breath. "The difference in judgement between us; me, you and Levi and the rest, originates from different rules derived from past experiences, but, you don't have to rely on a thing like that to make your choice. Will you trust yourself, or will you trust me Eren? Them and the Scouting Legion as a whole. I don't know which option you should choose, I could never advice you on that, especially being in the position that I am in, but no matter what kind of wisdom dictates you, the option that you should pick, no one will be able to tell you if it's right or wrong t'ill you arrive to some sort of outcome resulting from your choice. The only thing we're allowed to do is to belive that we won't regret the choice that we made. Trust us." I brushed my hair behind my ear that is being blown about by the wind and gave him one last longing look before turning back around, holding Levi around the middle. "Jeager! That's taking too long! Make up your mind already!" Levi yelled at him, seeing that what I said was enough for him to make his decision. "I'll keep going with you!! I'll trust you!" He yelled, all of us rather surprised by his answer. "She's accelerating!" Eld told us. "Keep going! Faster!" Levi ordered, everyone keeping in pace with us. We're nearly there, at the checkpoint. . .
