-Year 847-
I sat up abruptly, clenching the fabric of my shirt that sat in front of my heart. This dream again? How many times has it haunted me over the last five years? I shook my head then rested it in my hands. It is always the same dream. "Aoi, you're going to be late." Jeremy opened the door to my room and opened the curtains. I groaned, Jeremy always does this; even when we were in training. "I am never late." I told him, getting up to change. "Officer Pyxis doesn't think so." I frowned at the mention of that man's name. He is the one who took me away. Away from Armin, Misaka and Eren. I often find myself worrying about them, wondering if they are still alive and well. . . I spent a year training on the west side of wall Rose. I was pushed harder then anyone and was given no slack. I couldn't say that the training was completely useless, I got to learn about Papa's past; about his name Ebony flame. Learning his past made me realize why Pyxis took me away as well; he believed that I had inherited my fathers fighting skills. To their delight, I did. Unlike the other soldiers in my training group, I got relieved of my training earlier. A total of three years is required for a militant to join an army of their choosing, although I did not get a choice. A man by the name of Levi took me in on Pyxis' suggestion. I learned that the Survey Corps take missions on outside the boundaries of the walls. I accepted this challenge, due to the fact that it gave me a chance to see the outside world again. The garrison guards I would have never joined, I have had bad encounters with many of them and the Military police are all pompous jerks who think they know the suffering that the titans create. They are usually those who are strong enough to be in the top ten of their class and their job is to protect the king, but they lack insight on what goes on out here in the real world. They would rather live in safety and watch as other people die for their right to live. They are the lowest of low. "Alright, let's go." I said to my friend, sliding my weapon into the three demential gear. I use my fathers blade instead of the typical blades that everyone else uses. I had to get a replica made, since Pyxis insisted I needed two weapons. The one I have would have sufficed, but my decisions don't seem to be made on my accord anymore. . .
The blue studded ends of my blades gleam against the sunlight as Jeremiah and I walk towards Trost's training location. Jeremiah seems to know where we are going, so I am following his lead. Hopefully we are going in the right direction. "So Levi gave you some time off? That's rare, considering he wants you by his side at all times." I smirked at this, Levi and I get along well. I am one of the only people he shows his soft side to. He is usually a heartless fiend who wants order and discipline; but after seeing me fight and getting to know me, we have grown close. "I requested a small break, for my mental health. The dreams have been more vivid then usual." I told him. Jeremiah nodded, he knows a lot about my past. He was one of the only people I trusted after I was peeled away from my friends two years ago. He joined the Survey Corps just to stay close to me, I had protested and told him to take any job he wanted, but he insisted that with me at his side, he is at his strongest. "So he put you into helping train the new recruits? That's harsh." I nudged him in the side with my elbow. "We were once there too." Jeremiah laughed, "I was there, you were already way above beginner." Levi told me before he left that he wants me to help Keith train the newbies, saying that this would be a good experience for me. Saying that perhaps this would give me more than just the emotion pain and anger. I am not the same girl I was two, three years ago. I rarely smile anymore and all I can feel is pain, no matter where I am, who I am with, the empty ness inside of me does not ever disappear. . . "We're really going to be late." I said as I glanced at the position of the sun. "I told you you that earlier! Come on let's go." He said as he began to run. I chased after him, shooting my wire propeller into a nearby tree. The both of us flew in the forest, winding around the trunks of the thick pine trees. Preforming this simple task felt different than it used to. I used to feel the thrill of soaring over buildings like a bird, but now all I feel is the same empty hollowness in the pit of my stomach. "Aoi! Stop!" Jeremiah yelled a little too late. I broke the tree line and flew out into the empty sky. The training camp in is in a lower part of the land, surrounded by mountains and rocky terrain. This must be to train these kids that are all lined up in rows. "Damn it." I cursed as I had nothing else to grapple onto. The kids had all heard me break the tree line and had turn to stare at the girl falling from the cliff. Idiots. It's not like I am going to die from this. Keith down below pointed to a boy with blond hair, my eyes catching him mouth Military Police. I smirked and rotated in a full backflip before using my hooks to penetrate the dirt by the boy who Keith had pointed to. I got propelled forwards and skidded to a blinding halt in front of the boy, his eyes wide with surprise. "Name and district." I demanded, looking up at him because he is much taller than me. "Didn't I already do this once?" He muttered under his breath. "Your commanding officer is speaking to you! How do you reply?!" Keith yelled, coming up to my side and glaring down at this boy. "Jean Kirstein, from Trost District!" He yelled. "Why are you here?" I asked. "To join the Military Police regiment and live on the interior." I hissed and then took him off his feet by kicking his legs from out and under him. "We don't need anymore corrupted losers who think they know how to fight titans! The majority of those who are in that legion have never even seen a titan! I do not accept those who choose this path, therefore, leave now if you wish to be part of the military police!" Jean's eyes widened nut he bowed his head in submission, he obviously wants to be here, but at what price? "Well said." Keith praised as he took me by the shoulders and turned me to face the young faces. "This is your commander, Azure Shadow. As commanded by the Survey Corp second in command, Levi, she will be on duty to train you useless fodder! Greet your superior!" "Welcome Officer Shadow!" They all yelled, saluting in my honor. I didn't like how Keith introduced me by my Survey Corp name. I earned it by the succession of my fathers and the way I fight. Soldiers in the grasp of a titans fist see a streak of azure, before the titan falls dead, releasing them from their doom. This streak they see is me, trying to be everywhere at once. Trying to save, every human I can. I do not believe in casualties.
