"we'll get you home safe, alright, kid?"
casey casden, the missing child who remained hidden by the oversized leather jacket covering cassie's frame, nodded ever so slightly with a childish grin gracing his features. cassie replicated it once she found her way upon the gallagher home's back porch, elliot hot on her tail, and kevin and veronica only steps behind.
elliot rushed up the stairs in order to open the door for the girl who remained preoccupied with the child in hand. the ball boy quickly faltered before slinging the door open, and opted to banging harshly to mess with the gallaghers inside.
"open the fucking door, eli."
following a genuine laugh, elliot finally did as cassie ordered. the girl hurriedly made it through the doorframe, the three who tagged along replicating the act within moments.
"what the hell is going on?" veronica was the first to utter a word as cassie allowed the casden kid to remain upon the kitchen counter.
kevin quickly motioned towards the child with disbelief across his features. "is that the missing kid?"
"debbie stole him." fiona let out a frustrated sigh, all the stress from the situation evident in her expression. "now we have to figure out how to get him back without getting her in juvie."
elliot let out a dramatic laugh, his hands flying into the air as his gaze found cassie's obviously annoyed expression. "you fucking owe me, cass!"
fiona was the one to utter a response as he turned in his chair with a quirked eyebrow. "you guys made a bet about this?"
"you didn't?" cassie tilted her head with a mocking grin towards elliot when another laugh tumbled from his lips. the blonde traveled to stand behind debbie, her eyes piercing fiona's. "guess i'm not the only crazy case in this house, huh?"
debbie glanced upwards seemingly completely oblivious to the words to fall from cassie's lips as an innocent, childish smile formed. the blonde couldn't deny the replicated expression before leaning down to press a kiss to the child's forehead.
"okay, but why in the world would she stea—"
by the expression to contort across fiona's face, veronica cut herself short abruptly with a quick look to the girl in question.
"there must be a couple hundred cops out there."
"yeah, it's making me antsy." elliot was by the window in attempts to catching a glimpse outside alongside his brother. kevin turned his head knowingly, however, which caused elliot to force a reassuring laugh. "totally kidding, kev."
