Hushed, relaxed, warm.
The air was cool, but not too cold. Just enough for warmth to be welcomed, but not needed. Temperate. It feels temperate. And the satin sheets rubbing against his arms and his feet feels amazing.
The faint sounds of the sea crashing on the shore reached his ears first. The windows must've been opened ajar for the waves to feel this close, yet they were muted all the same.
And when Jay opened his eyes and saw the sun shining, it instantly lightened his mood with how pretty the sun brightened up the room.
He sits up slowly, rubs his eyes from the remnants of sleep, and he feels so, so light. So well-rested. One of the best sleep he's had in a while, it brings a smile to his lips.
Hushed, relaxed, warm. Cool satin sheets, bright, bright day, and the muted crashing of the waves is what Jay wakes up to.
He gets up and fixes the bed. First thing you should do to feel as productive as possible. He plumps the pillows and folds the blankets. And when he's done, he goes to the window and opens it all the way. He looks at the sea, and how the twinkling waters wink at him as if to bid good morning. And in delight and excitement, he bids 'good morning' back to the balmy ocean breeze.
Jay stretches his arms, his back, and his neck. Then goes back inside, to start the day.
It was then that moment, he remembers he was a secretary, and he was supposed to be awake way, way earlier, for his boss.
He rushes down from the bedroom, with P'Sai and P'May bustling around the kitchen. Looking like they're preparing breakfast. He approaches them.
"Good morning Par Sai, Par May!" and wais at the two older women.
"Good morning, Khun Jay. Did you sleep well?" P'May asks, as she wais back at Jay and touches his cheeks.
"I slept very well, Par. I feel so much better. Thank you! So, what's for breakfast? What can I help with?" Jay says as he smiles at P'Sai who was washing up some cups.
"Khun Tan is already in the pavilion, having breakfast. We made all your favorites. Go," P'Sai says, as she touches Khun Jay's cheeks first before she tells him to go.
"But, but-"
"It's okay. Just help us out during lunch, okay?" P'Sai answers and gently pinches his cheeks.
Jay nods. "Thank you for the breakfast, Par May and Par Sai." and wais again.
He walks to the pavilion, and he still gets awestruck with how well-made it is.
A few meters away, he sees the older man having coffee, with plates of untouched food in front of him. He seems to be reading the paper, and Jay clears his throat to announce his arrival.
"Good morning, Khun Tan. Did you sleep well? I apologize for not waking up earlier. I should've prepared the breakfast for you,"
"Jay, if I wanted you to wake up as early as usual, I could've told you. We're on a beautiful island. Relax."
Jay thinks, 'Yeah that. I still don't get why I can relax. isn't this supposed to be a client meeting or something?'
"Is this why we don't seem to be doing anything? Is this a vacation or something?"
"Didn't I tell you?" Khun Tan looks up from the paper and looks at Jay.
"No, Khun Tan,"
Khun Tan purses his lips then hums. "Hmm. Now you know."
