Jay has been on yachts before. Multiple times. Their business meetings don't just happen in conference rooms or in function halls, it also includes socializing, galas, parties, charity balls, and events and Jay noticed that rich people love socializing. Man, do they love to socialize.
Well, mostly, but not all anyway.
But they do love making connections, making acquaintances, meeting potential business partners, and meeting former partners for potential business ventures. The whole enchilada.
So Jay has grown some pretty thick skin over the years. He's met stuck-up, pompous businessmen and women who pretend that secretaries don't exist, or worse, maltreat and abuse their employees and treat them less.
Fortunately, Jay being Khun Tan's trusted EA for several years now has made him a solid name around him. It has given Jay a reputation of being capable and smart, enough that others treat him better, even with respect for some. Like Khun Sichanta and Neo. (Although Neo is more of a friend than a colleague. So there's that.)
But there are others who just love to test that limit. And it's moments like that, that make Jay feel so lucky that Khun C is his boss.
One time, some time ago, when he was younger and way more eager to prove his worth, he was called by a director of a construction company and was told to go across the city to buy him his coffee. And he was up to the task.
Being told to buy coffee was one of his jobs, even if Khun Tan never explicitly made him get him coffee, but Jay was up on his feet and about to run out of the office. But Khun Tan snapped and called his name so loudly, his voice could be heard on the whole floor.
Jay halted in fear he did something wrong, but what the older said next was not what he expected.
Then and there Khun Tan called off the negotiation, told the director he was not signing a deal with him and sent him home. All because he made Jay get him his coffee.
It was a little uncanny, especially to Jay, but his older boss had tendencies to be protective of his subordinates and he had experienced it firsthand multiple times. So, why was he so surprised, exactly?
The older told him, that he was his secretary, and that he should only listen to him.
If he remembers correctly, his exact words were; "You're my secretary. You work with me. I'm not letting other pompous bastards tell you what to do, more so just telling you to buy some coffee. Never,"
So Jay never did.
Now, he cannot imagine working for those pompous bastards. And if he happened to be working for them, he'll hate it, but he won't be able to say much because bills have to be paid. He has to earn a living.
So it makes him so happy that he's making a living while feeling happy and proud of it.
So now, in true Jay fashion, if somebody told him he'll be in a yacht, on a beautiful island in Thailand, all alone with Khun C, driving off to somewhere, Jay will only laugh and say nothing. Cause it's that crazy.
But here he is, with his boss, driving off to somewhere.
Well, work has its perks, he guesses.
He just never thought that being an assistant had perks as grand as these.
This isn't the biggest or the grandest yacht he's ever been on. Not even close. But this has a personal touch, a preference, customized to fit the owner's style, and this has striking similarities with the mansion they are currently staying at Khun Janit.
So he asks, "This yacht, is it one of the amenities in the resort?"
Khun C is driving the boat, at normal speed, not too fast, not too slow, just enough for Jay to know they are moving.
