"Can I put this on the counter?" Grit asks."Sure. Just put it down there," Jay answers.
"How can I help?" Khun Tan asks from behind.
They all look back at their boss, and even Jay is surprised.
"What?" Khun Tan asks.
"Did you wake up on the wrong side of the bed?" Jay asks.
Khun Tan raises his eyebrows at the question and Jay flinches and retracts.
"Khun Tan?" Jay adds.
"What do you mean?" The older answers.
"Umm," the younger starts, but he only looks around at the just as surprised as him, staff.
"Is there any food you want, Khun Tan? We'll make it for you." P'May says.
"No. I just want to help," C answers.
"It's alright, Khun Tan. We can handle this,"
"I know you can. But I wanna help anyway,"
Jay approached Khun Tan, his breath held, then brings his right hand up and feels the elder's forehead.
"You don't feel hot," Jay says.
C lets out a tiny smile, takes Jay's hand from his forehead, and holds it with both hands.
"I'm not sick, I'm not having a fever, I didn't wake up on the wrong side of the bed. I just wanna help. Why are you so surprised?" Khun C asks.
"Okay. Okay," Jay starts and takes his hand from Khun C's grasp.
"Umm- why don't you go, Ummm. Hold on one sec, Khun Tan" holding out his index finger to indicate one (1).
Jay goes to Par May and whispers- "Are there any tasks that we can let the boss do?"
Par May shrugs and whispers back- "I don't think we're even allowed to let him do anything, Khun Jay. Even you for that matter. You're both our bosses but I don't know why he's being persistent in helping,"
"Yeah, beats me. And Par~ he's the only boss, I'm the secretary. I'm his employee too. How many times do I have to tell you this?"
"Alright, I'm sorry. But still,"
"Umm, how about we let him help prep ingredients? Does he even know how to hold a knife?"
"I have no idea. Now that you mention it, I don't think I've seen him in a kitchen except to get water."
"How about just letting him help the boys around? Like, set the table?"
"Okay. That should be enough,"
"Okay, Khun Tan," Jay approaches C and sees the elder man straighten his back and his attention directed to him and Jay bites his lips to hide his amusement.
"You can help set the table up when we're done cooking. For now, you can just wait for us to finish,"
"No. I want to help you cook,"
"Uhh, excuse me for asking this but, do you even 'know' how?"
"I was living alone during college, in London, Jay. I can whip up a thing or two. I'm not an expert like you, but I won't burn down the kitchen"
"Alright. Alright. Umm," Jay looks around and sees Nong Waew laughing behind her hand.
"Let Nong Waew show you how to prep the ingredients,"
"No. I said- I want to help you."
Unable to hold her excitement, the young woman squeals uncharacteristically, and Jay sends a deadly glare her way.
