I stood at my bike, parked in front of the school. July wasn't feeling good after what had happened with Ben the previous day, so she stayed home. I had drew in a long breath, the sweet, familiar taste of nicotine coating my mouth. A black impala had pulled up, two kids got out, I recognized them from yesterday. "Hey man." I called. He had looked over at me, giving each other a subtle nod. A small smile on the other boy's face. "Hey, you're Jax, yeah?" He asked. "Maybe, who wants to know?" I asked. "Oh, I'm a friend of July's, is she okay?" He asked. "Yeah. She's a lot tougher than she seems." I laughed. He laughed as well, "good." He replied, he would look down at the floor every so often. "Sam." The other boy beckoned, he had gave me a small quick wave as he walked off. I laughed to myself. "What the hell." I muttered, watching the two of them walk away. The other had turned back around for a moment. "Hey, thanks for yesterday. I appreciate the help." He called. "It was no problem, I'd wanted to bust in someone's face recently, so I took it." I shrugged. The two walked off, into school. Luckily, I was retired. I only came down to see Ben Schafer's face when he saw me, while he wobbled in with his stupid casted leg, that I really hope I broke. Sure enough, my crazy demented ass broke out into a wide grin as I saw the whole football team had surrounded him, and he looked pissed. He kept shoving them away, yelling about how he wasn't incapable of carrying his own shit around. I was soon laughing at the sight. A few girls passed by, giving me weird stares. It was worth it. He then looked over at me. His eyes grew wide as he started to move his crutches faster, carrying his weight. He tripped over a parking block, that's when I really lost my shit. "Hey crutch!" I called through laughs, "don't fuck with anyone else younger than you!" I yelled. He ignored me, I started up my bike. I revved it in front of the school gates as I passed by him. Fucking teenage drama. Luckily I've been done with all that. I'm now only focused on the Club, and my family. I got back to the garage. July humming to herself in the kitchen, making some breakfast. "Hey kid." I said as I walked in, kissing the side of her head quickly and moving towards the dorm room. I came back and she finally greeted me. "Good morning!" She called back, still humming to herself. "AC/DC, huh?" I scoffed, she shot me a playful glare. "What, I'm the last person to judge." I replied as she sat in front of me, on the other side of the island. A plate of food sat on the table. We each picked at the plate, neither one of us moving to get another to serve ourselves. I sat as she sighed. "What's eating at you." I asked, Technically demanded it. "It's nothing Jax." She replied. "Bullshit, I know you. So what is it." I pried. She looked at me, then back down to the half empty plate that sat between us. "Come on sis, spill." I said. "I like this guy, and we only talked a few times. I don't know what to do, and I- Jax?" She cut herself off, looking up at me. "I don't need to hear about how my baby sis likes guys. They're all trash." I said. She gave me a questioning look. "Not me though." I countered quickly. Nice save. "Yeah, because you didn't knock up your baby momma, crack addicted, hoe." She replied. "Wendy? You like Wendy!" I scoffed. "Not like this. She's a junkie. Not my sis in law." She said as she scraped her chair from the counter. "Hey, it's not like that Jules. You know it's not." I replied. "Yeah, well, that's what mom says." She said, "Well ma, is-" I sighed, trying to find the word I was looking for. "Ma is what?" She asked walking in, as if on cue. "Ma is great." I said as I kissed her cheek and fled. "Mhm. That's right, and don't you two forget it." She said, her index finger darting between the two of us, in context. I know I probably boosted her ego by a zillion, but if it helped me stay on her good side I didn't care. "You. Where are you headed today." She asked me, "I have a half day, I gotta go see the kid and then go to the school for J's homework and some project crap." I said. She nodded as she sipped coffee. "And you?" She asked, now turning her attention to my kid sister. "I was going to go to Mr Richardson's to help out with paradox and juniper." She said. "Ok, so nothing? Perfect. Help me with paperwork and runs today." Ma said. Me and July shared a look. Her look was more of a protest, I just shrugged with sympathy in reply. I had a couple of cars, and some boring club meeting about the movement of the product flow. "Hey kiddo." I cooed at my son, I smiled as I stood in front of the stupid, shit toaster he was in. I stared with love and determination for him. He'll pull through, he's tough. I stopped at the school. The parking lot was partially empty since it was lunch time and seniors usually get to leave to get food. "Hi. I'm looking for Mrs. Summers? It's for July Teller." I said. A younger woman had walked in. Her green eyes held amusement and- lust? "Hi." She dragged it out, it sounded almost flirtatious, "Hey." I nodded, no obvious flirting attempt back to her. "You must be here for- July Teller." She said, her tone made me internally cringe. She was way too friendly, not the good, genuine type either. It made me want to throw up. "Yeah." I replied as I looked around the room, I noticed that the receptionist was also gawking at me. Now I really wanted to vomit. I grabbed the papers, and the plastic bag from her. I nodded and smiled in thanks. I quickly exited towards my bike. I was almost halfway there when I heard someone whistle loudly. "Look lady! I don't know what the big deal is but, argh-" I was knocked out cold by a quick blow to the side of my head.
