After hours of what seemed like endless walking with a boy who had broken legs, and stories that made me wonder if he really was an idiot.  I finally made it to a clear field, it was small but a demon wouldn't dare step foot here with the sun out. I had time to finally rest my legs. I was overjoyed but I could no longer jump, my legs were giving out slowly and Kato was going to slip from my grip if I didn't hold on tight.

"Hey- um- you're grabbing my legs pretty hard- ACK"

My legs gave out and I fell face-first into the ground beneath us and stayed that way despite the dirt getting onto my face and the stinging from falling so harshly.  Kato on the other hand shouldn't have been injured more than he already was since he fell on my back, and having another human taller than you fall on your back wasn't a nice feeling.

(Kato is two inches taller than however tall you are)

I let out a grunt from the pain but I didn't move, I was to tired and I could hardly move my fingers. My eyes were closed so dirt did not get into them/My glasses fell off my face and hit the ground but luckily for me they did not break.

Kato  stayed there for a moment before finally speaking again, "Hey...can you tell me your name now?" he asked, his voice layered with curiosity. 'That's right, I didn't tell him my name earlier because I was so focused on running and fighting, that was rude of me not to answer earlier. I should've exchanged names as soon as I killed the demons chasing him. I hope he doesn't think of me as some low life because of it.' I began to overthink instead of answering Kato's question.

That left him patiently waiting for an answer in silence, but then he asked again and I just felt worse than I already did.

"L/N Y/N" I responded sleepily despite the guilt foe not answering him twice I was exhausted and slightly out of breath since Kato was still on me at the time. I moved my body in the slightest way, kind of like a worm or Caterpillar and hoped he got the hint, and then I went still again.

Kato then sat up quickly and shuffled off my back, and for a short while he was silent. I could hear nothing but the gentle wind blowing past us, and I could feel the warmth from the sun hit my back and the back of my hands. It was a refreshing change of weather compare to the inhuman cold temperature on the mountain Mrs. Natsume lives on.

When I said the silence was short, I meant it. Not even a minute later Kato started screaming and shaking me again.

"OH NO- I KILLED MY FRIEND!!!" Kato screeched despite me answering his question not to long ago.

"Kato, I am not dead" I reassured, my head still on the ground.

"HEY! WAKE UP! I DON'T KNOW YOUR NAME YET!" He cried desperately trying to get me to move, but I was to tired

'I Just told you my name ten minutes ago' I thought to myself, now I'm questioning a few things.

"I'M A MURDERER, I SUFFOCATED MY FIRST FRIEND" He began to shake me a little to aggressive for my liking, so like any normal person would do I grabbed his hand and sat up. Then I looked him dead in the eyes and began to explain.

"Okay for One, My name is L/N Y/N. Two I am not dead and you aren't a murderer, okay?" I let go of his arm and set my hand onto his shoulder in a comforting way so he would finally relax his nerves, and when he processed what I had said he finally calmed down.

"Now that you're calm, I need you to answer some questions for me."

It was kind of obvious how he didn't understand the depth of the question I was about to ask next, but I won't be sure until I ask him myself. His eager nods meant nothing to me because when it comes down to it, he can only do one of two things.

"I want you to be honest. The name those demons mentioned, Kanzaki. What do you know about it?" I asked now sitting up and facing Kato, making attempts to read his expressions, how his body shifted when I asked, and how his behavior changed.

Kato's body froze in place for a split second as he fiddled with his hands, and he kept eye contact but didn't speak. It was as if he was trying to figure out how to explain it to me or figure out something to say. Suddenly he stopped fiddling with his fingers and he sighed before smiling sheepishly.

"I Honestly don't know what to say, I don't know a thing about what they were talking about." Just like that I began to regret asking the question when his facial expression began to drop and he didn't look me in the eyes, he looked at his hands  "Even if I did at one point, some old lady and her husband threw me down a well with the hopes to kill me apparently. All I remember before that is them dragging me off and calling me 'Big mouthed freak' then they threw me down, I hit my head and blacked out. Sorry"

I looked down for a moment, I felt bad for being so nosy. Maybe he wasn't ready to share that...we just met after all. Talking about something like that can bring back traumatic memories he isn't ready for.

"Sorry Kato, that was rude of me to invade your personal life like that." I apologized, and to my surprise, Kato wasn't upset.

"Don't worry about it! I'll forget I told you sooner or later, stuff like that happens all the time! When I hit my head I started forgetting a bunch of things so I had to start writing it all down, it would give me a headache trying to remember how many times I've forgotten my name without my journal" Kato's sudden change of attitude is what shocked me the most out of it all, after talking about something like that he was so quick to be joyful.

As Kato stood up he asked for my name again, which I told him willingly. This time he pulled something out, it was a book. He wrote in it and proudly showed me my name sloppily written down in a friends list, I was the only one there.

"Hey, I hope you don't mind but what made you so interested in asking me that?" Kato asked as he looked up from his book to stare at me.

"That was my mother's name before she married my father" I answered after thinking it over, and then I fell flat onto my back and sighed. I took glances at Kato every now and then while he stared at where I was just sitting for five minutes straight.

This was the longest he was quiet, and suddenly he smiled and let out a chuckle before turning to look at me in my eyes.

"Sorry to disappoint, but I don't know a thing about Kanzaki, it's not even in my journal" He said before turning away from me and looking back at his journal.

That was when it finally hit me.

Kato wasn't an idiot, well I hope not.
