The walk back would be relieving to say the least.

No more demons, annoying injuries or bodies to step over. You could put your sword away and just focus on what was happening now instead of having to plan ahead or plan how you'd male it out alive.

The sunset was beautiful, the breeze felt amazing against your aching bones and the only thing you really paid attention to was the muffled voices and the sounds of singing birds as they passed by.

Right now you had the chance to relax for a moment, even if it was only because of a very long walk after surviving for this long, such a peaceful walk seemed a little unreal, and despite how tense your body was, you still felt slightly relaxed.

"So, you guys are gonna keep being demon slayers? I'm sure your parents would miss you if you're gone all the time right?"

Kato's question was what caught both you and Tanjiro off guard, you looked over at him then ahead at the path in front of you all. Wondering just what would come next after such a question.

"Uh well, you see. My parents passed, that's why I'm here..."

You did feel bad for him. That wasn't an easy question most of the time especially with demons around, so most people probably have lost their parents to one or some other cause.

Placing a comforting hand onto Tanjiro's back, catching his attention as he looked over at you and smiled gently, as he nodded and placed a hand ontop of yours.

"Thanks (Y/N), but I promise I'm okay."

You nodded in response and continued to walk along with everyone else, before Tanjiro asked a question directed to Kato this time.

"What about you?"

"Hm?"

"Parents, They couldn't have sent you here?"

"Oh no they didn't, actually I don't know them all too well! My uncle said they were murdered but you know, he also said I was a girl. So I don't think he's in his right mind, but I do know they're dead!"

The simple fact being that his tone never changed while he casually talked about this was what caught both you and Tanjiro alike completely off guard. He even smiled and looked as if nothing was wrong with what he said.

"O..Oh..Do you uh- Still live with your uncle..Kato?"

"Kinda! He sent me here to get money! Said something about a grieving check? I'm not too sure but it's better than him dressing me up like a pig! He says I need to pay him back for fishing me out of the well!"
