"You're pathetic.''

I said loud enough for the demon cowering below me to hear in its final moments, before I slammed my sword down on its neck.

Returning my weapon to its holster, I turned to look towards the last place I saw the strange man from earlier.

Whoever he was, he had to be taken care of before anything else was done for the sake of saving those other kids.

I didn't even know who was alive at this point, but I didn't question it too much. If anything I wanted to meet up with that man again.

I climbed through the hole I made inside the already broken home, and stalked towards the ragged door.

All of the peices from the door were scattered around the house because of me only throwing a demon through it.

This whole situation was just a huge red flag. From how easy it was to find and kill the demon to the "exchange." Between the man and the demon.

Whatever would come next would probably be a little but more difficult than the first fight should've been.

As I finally made it through the doors I heard someone whistle, and what sounded like two bodies hitting the ground.

"Well would ya look at that!"

I saw the man, hat still on qnd everything with what I assumed to be the twins. They looked around my age.

Curly dark brown hair, tanned skin, and black eyes like the lady who was looking for them.

I assumed they shared more resemblance to their father rather than the mother considering her pale tone.

They were tied up, and had matching colored outfits. The boy wore a necklace in the shape of a star while the girl had a similar hairpin.

I looked over at the man, who had his arms crossed again, but I could see the amused smile left on his face as he slowly approached me.

I stayed put and listened to him go on.

" See now I thought you was just as dumb as a bag of bricks! But cha' a smart one huh?"

I stated silent. Waiting to see if he'd say anything else about what he was doing here and what those exchanges were about.

If he was really worth killing, or if I could just immobilize him and let another demon take care of the rest.

Unfortunately, this man didn't say much else about the trade and instead kept rambling on to get me to come down.

"Now since I went ahead and helped you, how bout a thank you hm?"
