~30 min. later~
I look up at the sky and sigh. I love to read but now I’m bored. Sensei Wu comes over and asks. “What seems to be the problem?”
“I need to do something.”
“I thought you were reading.” He says.
“Yeah, but I got bored.” I grumble.
“Can you cook? I do believe the others are getting hungry.” He offers and then leaves, going up the steps leading to the bridge.
“Wait, where’s the kitchen?!” I call after him. Too late, Sensei Wu is gone. By now I really do feel frustrated, and need to hit something.
After wandering for a bit I find the kitchen and walk in. I close the door behind me and survey the small cooking place. I hear a cupboard close, turning I notice Lloyd. In his hand is a bar of chocolate, and piece from the bar sticking from the corner of his mouth. It is a very silly sight. He sees me and slips out the door.
Digging through the fridge I find chicken (at least I think its chicken), fruit, pot stickers, corn, cheese, milk, soda, pizza, and a rubber snake? I fry the chicken stuff and put cheese on top. Microwave the pot stickers. Make a fruit salad. And hope this going to be a good lunch, because I’ve never really cooked before and have no clue what I am doing.
Soon everyone is at the table and has served up some food. Jay cracks a joke and we all groan. He frowns and takes a big bite of chicken. As soon as he does he spits it back out. “Uh… what is that?”
I shrug. “It’s your fridge.”
Kai pikes up a melon slice and hurtles it at Jay. “Be nice.” Kai says as the melon hits Jay in the face.
“Don’t make a mess!” Jay says as he picks up his plate and throws it at Kai. Kai ducks and the plate hits Misako in the head instead of Kai.
“Hay, not nice.” Nai scolds her brother and boyfriend.
“Oops…” Jay whispers guilty.
Cole takes the pitcher of milk, walks around the table and dumps it on Jay’s head. “Respect your elders!” He laughs as Jay gives out a startled cry. Father laughs as well.
“Enough!” Sensei shouts. “All three of you will clean up this mess.”
“But…” Kai squeaks.
“Now!” Sensei Wu commands, and then he turns to me. “Will you help Zane in Lloyds training for today, while these three are cleaning?” I nod my head. Then we all leave to let Kai, Jay, and Cole clean up their mess. Zane stays behind to do the dishes. (I wish he had been at the tower with father and I. That would mean no more dish washing for me!) Nay goes to the bridge to steer the ship, father, Sensei Wu and Misako follow her.
Once on the main deck I throw aside my quiver and belt of weapons. Shifting into a fighting stance I say to Lloyd, “Give me all you got and I’ll go easy on you.”
“As long as you don’t kill me I’ll be fine.” He says, I just shrug.
He faces me, and we begin. For a minute we stand there facing each other. Finally he hurtles his fist at me and I catch it. He tries to pull back and put me off balance but I pull him forward knee him in the side. He falls to the deck, then jumps up and turns to face me. I pull my fist back and bring it forward. He puts up his arms to block the blow. I hit his arms and kick them as well. He reels back and runs at me, I jump up and do a backflip. As he races below me I come down and squish him to the deck. “Dead.”
I step away and Lloyd stands up. “Wow you’re deadly even without a sword.”
Father walks out of the bridge and calls to me. “Seashore, can you come and see if you can decipher something for us?!” Kai, Cole, Jay, and Zane walked out of the dining room as father began his question.
