Blood warning: mentions of nosebleeds
Today was one of those days that was hectic after there were days of calm. Like a thunderstorm after few days of sunshine. It started off calm with school but after they took a break and moved onto the journal, Bucky was just all over the house. Walking around and tapping on Steve's shoulder to open the pantry door even though he hasn't finished his first snack.
Steve sat in his office while Bucky did whatever in the living room.
He heard a whine, something told him it was Bucky's whine but it could be one of the dogs.
"Mr. Rogers, Bucky needs assistance in the kitchen." Steve sighed, knowing most likely he was causing trouble by getting at something.
He went in the kitchen then stood frozen in shock. It wasn't Bucky trying to get into something, it was Bucky having a bad nosebleed. He stood still, shaking and crying while blood dripped from his nose onto the counter.
Steve's dad instincts quickly kicked in. "Okay, you're fine but I need you to calm down for a second." Bucky whined and began trembling. Steve scooted him to slightly lean over the sink. "Breathe through your mouth." Steve pinched Bucky's nose. Bucky tried to stop him but Steve held his hand. "This will help, just stay calm. You're doing good."
"Captain, would you like Dr. Banner's assistance?"
"No, tell him what's going on." Steve didn't want to freak Bucky more because if Bruce knew then the whole team would know and they would come down here.
"All done." Bucky whined.
"You're still bleeding a bit." Steve knew about nosebleeds all too well to know that its takes a few minutes to stop the bleeding. After a while, the bleeding stopped. Steve got an ice pack and a towel. "Okay, do not lay down. Hold this right here and it'll stop it from bleeding again." Bucky sat on the couch. He was still trembling a bit. Steve went back to the kitchen, the blood was mostly on the counter but there was a few drops on the floor. He cleaned up the tiny pool of blood on the counter then got a mop, it was time to clean the kitchen away. "Friday, did he hit something or get overexcited at something to start that?"
"He was simply pacing around the island for a few minutes. He stopped abruptly and that's when I noticed the bleeding." Steve frowned, Bucky has never had a nosebleed. He doesn't even remember if James had a nosebleed growing up. Steve cleaned the entire kitchen, he went in the living room to notice Bucky looked a dissociated. Like his mind was somewhere else.
"Buck, you okay?" Steve touched his thigh. Bucky flinched then looked at Steve. "Can I see if the bleeding stopped?" Bucky nodded. Steve took the ice pack from his hands and looked at him. The bleeding stopped, thankfully. "Do you feel okay otherwise?"
"Sleepy."
"Okay, I don't want you to lay on your side for a while so will you be okay laying on your back against the side of the couch?" Bucky slightly frowned a bit. Steve propped up a few pillows against the arm rest and let Bucky lay on his back. "At least if you're laying on your back, there won't be pressure on one side." Bucky sighed and rubbed his face but Steve kept his hands down. "Try not to rub your face, do you want Lamby?" Bucky nodded. Lamby was left in Steve's office, he got the lamb and gave it to Bucky. Steve stayed with Bucky until he fell asleep.
Once Bucky was asleep, Steve went in his office. Then his phone rang. Bruce.
"Is everything alright?" Bruce asked.
"Yeah, it was just a sudden nosebleed."
"Steve, normally I wouldn't worry about something like a nosebleed but with Bucky's brain the way it is, it makes me a bit concerned."
