Sunday

When Steve said Bucky woke up with the sun, he truly meant Bucky woke up at the crack of the dawn. He was up at 5 in the morning, rocking himself quietly. Steve also blamed the fact that the curtains in the room were not black out curtains.

Bucky was doing okay in the house. The only problem he had was the stairs. The stairs was a spiral case and Bucky hated that. The stairs were wide and not overly skinny. But Bucky did not feel stable on those steps. It was a sensory issue that was causing him to not feel stable but he couldn't go up two steps without whining and shaking. So Steve had resorted to carrying Bucky up and down the stairs. Not that Bucky mind, he loved being carried.

"Do you want to eat breakfast?" Steve asked.

"Yeah." Bucky said as he was laying facedown on the bed.

"You want to help me?"

"No." Bucky groaned.

"Bucky, how you do expect me to make you something if you don't want to help?"

"No." Bucky groaned again.

"Okay, I'll eat the blueberry pancakes myself." Bucky's head suddenly popped up.

"Bucky help." Bucky got up off the bed and met Steve at the top of the stairs. Steve smiled at him then picked him up. Bucky was truly the only one who had problems with the stairs. Even Chase was doing pretty well. Harley only had one incident and that was her long legs skipped a step. Once they reached the bottom of the stairs, Steve put Bucky on his feet. They went in the kitchen, Bucky opened the pantry door. "Cookie."

"Not for you." Steve said.

"Brownies." Bucky pulled a box from the pantry.

"No." Steve said again but Bucky was adamant about brownies. "Okay, I don't want to take more than what we need to. We are going go the store after we finish eating so we can grab a box and, tonight, we can make brownies." Bucky stared at Steve then nodded. He opened the refrigerator and saw more sweets.

"Cake."

"This reminds me of our conversation last night. Do you want ice cream cake or brownies? Both is not an option." Bucky whined then flapped his hands. "Or how about we make brownies tonight then maybe before we leave, we can have ice cream cake?" Bucky seemed to consider it. And while all that went through his four year old brain, Steve made pancakes.

"Okay."

"Good, I'm glad you thought about it. Now can you get me the blueberries?" Bucky opened the refrigerator and got the blueberries.

"Have please?" Bucky asked. Steve got a few and gave them to him. Bucky sat on the floor and ate. Then he heard Chase whine. "Doggies potty?"

"We'll take the dogs out in a few minutes, we'll have to walk them." Steve would have taken them out before they ate, but Bucky got super cranky fast if he didn't eat. "Food is done." Steve finished the pancakes, he and Bucky sat at the table and ate. Bucky began his little routine of giggling at nothing while eating. Steve couldn't help but smile with him.

After they ate and Bucky went to the bathroom, they walked up and the street to let the dogs out. Bucky was testing Steve's patience. He would walk in front of Steve then have that look like he wanted to start running. Steve knew Bucky would run if he wanted to but Bucky was testing him. Everytime he looked back, he smiled. But Steve would stop walking to enforce that he couldn't be running in unfamiliar places.

"Bucky, stop." Steve said. Bucky got past two mailboxes when he stopped running. "We're going back to the house." Steve could see it in Bucky's face that he wasn't listening. Instead he walked to a grassy area and touched the plants. "Bucky." Steve said seriously. Bucky looked at him then came out the grassy area.
