School has just let out and they are now on summer break.

Bella's POV:

School has been out for a few weeks now and Damiano and I have been spending more time together. Ever since we admitted our love to each other it feels that we've gotten closer. We've commonly agree that we'd never keep secrets from each other. So, imagine my agitation when I called him and he had the tone of lying clear in his voice.

I had called him to see if he wanted to go to that lake that we'd gone to before for a swim. He said no, but as I was talking to him I noticed that his voice sounded very...odd. He sounded like he was in distress. After I hung up I asked Mia to give me a ride to his house, and she quickly agreed.

When we got to Damiano's house I saw an unusual black G-Wagon sitting outside his house. I spotted Kai Russell, Damiano's best-friend, sitting on a bench outside the front door. He had his head in his palms and had a red tint on his hands. I got out of the car and walked over to him.

"Kai? What's wrong?" I asked. He looked up at me. His eyes were widened to a substantial degree.

"Bella? What are you doing here?" he yelled.

"I'm here to see Damiano." I told him plainly.

"Um, you can't. He's um, busy." he said as he looked to the window beside the front door. I looked down at Kai's hands. Was that blood?

"Kai, is that blood?" I asked. He paused for a moment before sputtering over his words. "Kai whose blood is that? Is that-" I was caught off my a scream. Damiano's scream. I ran to the door and torn it open before Kai grabbed my arm to try and stop me.

"Isabella you can't go in there!" he yelled. I quickly ripped my arm out of my Kai's grip.

I walked into the house and then made my way to where all the noise was. Damiano was laying on his kitchen island. He had blood dripping down his arm near his shoulder. His father was standing there holding his hand and an unknown man was standing there with a pair of long tweezers inserted at the source of the blood. Damiano's face was contorted in pain and was grunting. My hands flew to my face in shock.

"Oh my gosh." I mumbled. Damiano's head flew up at the sound of my voice.

"Bella," he grimaced, "What are you doing here?" The man with the tweezers looked at me.

"Get her out of here!" he yelled at Kai.

"What the hell happened?" I questioned. Meanwhile Kai pulled me out of the kitchen and into the living room. I felt my face go pale. "What happened?" I repeated.

"He ran into a bad guy." Kai told me unconfidently.

"A bad guy?" my voice quavered.

"He just ran into the wrong guy." Kai said plainly.

"It looks like he got shot!" I replied.

"He did, but really it's only a flesh wound."

"Oh, so that makes it so much better?" I screamed. After I said this I saw Damiano walk out from the kitchen, and towards me. He came right to me and then grabbed my arms. He had an apologetic look on his face.

"I'm sorry you had to see that." he pardoned himself.

"You were shot." I said.

"Yes."

"If it was over to the left a little more you would be dead." I stated once more.

"Yes." he dipped his head as he answered.

"I'll see you tomorrow." I said before leaving and walking back outside. Luckily, Mia was still outside so I could swiftly vacate the area.

I sat in the car and I felt Mia looking at me. I looked over at her and could barely see her as tears clouded my eyes. I could've lost him. I could have lost my best-friend. My boyfriend. I couldn't even talk to him because I was afraid I would freak out in front of him. I'm scared. I know he was the one shot, but I was so scared.

Mia drove me home without questioning me as I blubbered in the passenger seat. We pulled up to the house and I just sat in the car sobbing. I heard Mia get out of the car before my door of the car opened. I glanced over and saw Gianni kneeling down next to me.

"What happened sorellina? Did Damiano hurt you?" he asked.

"No." I sobbed.

"What happened?" he asked once more.

"He could have died. He could have died." I bawled. I know I was probably overreacting, but the pure thought that I could have lost Damiano was terrifying. I finally was able to stop my crying and I could finally see my brother's concerned icy blue eyes.

"What happened?" he asked again.

"Damiano got shot." I told him.

"He got shot? Is he okay?" Gianni asked.

"He got shot in his arm."

"But Bella, he's okay." Gianni reasoned with me.

"But he could have." I insisted.

"But you have to understand that he didn't. He is still alive."

"But what if he died. I wouldn't be able to handle losing another person." I said, referring to my mother.

"Bella, you can't be afraid. Yes you have reason to be, but you have to trust that Damiano won't put himself in a situation where he can lose his life." he reasoned. I thought about it for a bit. I know Damiano wouldn't purposefully try to get himself killed, and that started to slowly sink in.

I nodded my head and then got out of the car. I bypassed Gianni to head into the house so I could rinse my tears off my face. I made my way up to my bathroom to do just that. As I washed my face I heard something behind my back. I dried my face quickly and then turned around to see Damiano sitting on my bed. When did he get here?

"Bella we need to talk." he muttered while wringing his hands together.

"I know."

"I'm sorry you had to see that. The guy I was meeting with betrayed me, and he shot me." he explained. I shook my head.

"I'm sorry I reacted like that. I just got scared. I got scared that you would die. Not even dying from this wound, but just in the future. What if you get hurt worse next time?" I ranted.

"I won't. I'm almost never in the line of fire. This was just a fluke. I won't die on you, I promise. I would never leave you." he vowed. He had such a sincere look in his eyes, and it reassured me, but deep down I was still a tiny bit scared.

I know that the past few chapters have probably sucked, but I've gotten a tad busy with schoolwork. I'll try to get another chapter out by next weekend.
