Isabella's POV:
I didn't know what to think at this point. The interaction between my brother and Mr. Sergei Mironov confirmed any doubts I had with my brother, considering it was on speakerphone. He knew exactly what was happening. Because, he was the mafia. Sergei also mentioned the Messanelli territory. Messanelli was Damiano's last name. Was he involved with this business? Is that why he reacted like that when he found out who my brothers were?
I was confused, and I felt betrayed. Ultimately though, I just wanted to go home. Maybe I could get myself out of this mess. Aleksander had said that he would help me escape, but he has yet to return. Sergei left about an hour ago. I was starting to lose hope.
"Isabella." a hushed voice announced.
"Isabella." it repeated. I looked and saw Aleksander. He had a pair of keys with him and a knife.
"Aleksander. Where have you been?" I whispered.
"Sorry, your majesty, I'll try to be more swift in helping you escape next time." he said, sarcasm lacing his voice in a heavy tone.
"Wow, you're so funny." I mocked. "Now cut me out of these damn ropes please."
"You know, you're pretty feisty for someone tied up." he joked.
"I'm sorry, I'm just scared and I want to go home." I apologized. Aleksander quickly cut me out of the restraints. When I stood up, I realized how stiff my body was.
"Are you okay?" Aleksander asked when he saw me wincing. I nodded my head in response and followed him as he walked out of the cell.
I followed him as he walked through the corridors. They were dark and narrow, but still walkable. We walked for probably 15 minutes before I saw a light at the end of the tunnel. Yes, a literal light. We must have reached the end of the tunnel because light was pouring in. I could hear the birds chirping and the sound of water running. We emerged through the hole and breathed in the fresh air.
"Where are we?" I asked Aleksander.
"We are about a mile away from the compound. I'll drive you to your brother's office building." he told me. We then walked over to a small black mini-cooper that was covered with leaves and branches, almost like a camouflage. We got into the car and Aleksander began driving.
"Why are you helping me? Besides the answer that you gave me earlier." I asked. Aleksander gripped the steering wheel a bit tighter.
"You want the truth?" he asked to which I nodded my head, "My father wants me to take over when he gets older. The problem with that is that he has made enemies that I would inherit. When he hands it over to me I planned to let it cripple and fall apart. But, then someone would take our place, so I would like to show your brother that I can be trusted. At least your family has morals and a sense of right and wrong." he ranted. I was taken aback by his honesty. You could tell from the look in Aleksander's eyes that he was being truthful. He truly did have a kind-hearted soul and wanted to do better.
We had just made it into the city when I finally started processing everything that had happened. My brothers are criminals. They could be killers. If mob movies had taught me anything it was that they are almost always killers.
We pulled up to the familiar office building. Aleksander got out and motioned me to follow him. We walked into the building and saw a woman sitting at the reception desk. It was currently 7 o'clock so I didn't think anyone would be here.
"Do you know who can contact Leonardo the fastest?" Aleksander asked.
"Maybe." I mumbled. The receptionist looked up and took in my appearance. My black leggings now had holes in various places, and I looked in the rearview mirror earlier and saw I had a streak of dirt across my face.
"How can I help you?" the receptionist asked.
"I was wondering if Mr. Marino was in." I said to her. She shook her head in the negative. " Is Mrs. Daniella Valentino here?" I asked hopefully. The woman checked something on her computer before confirming that she was here.
"Can you please tell her that her cousin Isabella is here to see her?" I asked the receptionist. She nodded her head and picked the phone up.
"Mrs. Valentino? A girl named Isabella is here, she says she's your cousin." the woman spoke into the phone. All of a sudden said woman looked at the phone. "She must have hung up. I'm sorry young lady, but it se-" she was suddenly cut of my a shout. My cousin, Daniella, came running towards me at a steady speed.
"We were so worried cugina." she exclaimed. (cugina= cousin)
She then looked beside me and saw Aleksander standing there. She pulled a freaking gun out of her belt. A GUN! I guess Aleksander was right. My family was the mafia.
"What are you doing?" I screamed.
"Why the hell is Aleksander Mironov doing here?" she shouted.
"He helped me escape." I told her. Her stance faltered and her eyes drifted to me.
"He did?" she questioned. I nodded my head. She pulled her phone out of her pocket and dialed a number before handing it to me.
"Daniella? What do you need? We just found Bella." Leonardo's voice came through the line.
"Leo?" I asked. There was a long pause before he spoke.
"Isabella?" he asked.
"Yeah." I whispered out.
"How? Where?" he stumbled out.
"Aleksander rescued me, and he brought me to your office." I explained.
"I'll be right there." there was a long pause, "Ti amo." (ti amo= I love you)
Now the waiting game. Leonardo sounded very upset. Well, I guess if my sister was kidnapped I would be upset too. Do I tell him I know of his criminal business or do I play stupid? And what of Damiano?

I know I have been slacking on updating, but life has just been really hectic. I also have a little bit of writer's block, so chapters are a bit shorter. I'm going to be writing tomorrow, but I don't know when that chapter will be up. Hope you guys in the US have a happy Thanksgiving.
