Damiano's POV:
I rolled out of the gray covers of my queen sized bed and looked at my phone. I still hadn't gotten a message from Bella. Was she angry at me? Was she going to ignore me or did she just forget? Uh, I was never like this with any other girl, but Bella makes beyond nervous. For example, you know how girls say they get butterflies in their stomachs? Well around Isabella Marino I get butterflies, and they are intense.
It had been a couple days since I had talked to Bella. Hopefully I could talk to her today at school. I walked over to my closet and pulled out the school uniform before going into my bathroom to take a shower. After I finished I got dressed and did my hair.
I walked downstairs and saw my little sister, Cara, sitting at the dining room table with my mother. I swiftly walked over to them.
"Good morning mother, brat." I said greeting them both.
"Damiano Vincenzo Messanelli, do not start picking on your sister this early in the morning." my mother announced in a strict tone.
"Sorry Mama. Good morning Cara." I then took the last piece of toast off my sister's plate before walking into the kitchen for a bottle of water.
"Where's Papa?" I yelled from the kitchen.
"He's at work. He had a sudden meeting early this morning with Leonardo Marino. He was going to invite you but he knew you were up late studying." she told me. Leonardo? Why would Papa meet with Leonardo without me? He usually includes me in business deals with Leonardo.
"Do you know why?" I asked her. Maybe Leonardo found out about me taking Bella on a date.
"You know I don't get involved with your father's business dealings." she told me. That was my mother's generic line that she gave everyone. My father insured that if someone ever went to the cops about him my mother couldn't get taken to prison for involvement.
"Alright well, I'm heading to school." I told Mama and Cara before running out the door to school. I quickly ran to my car and raced off to school.
I was walking into Hamilton Private Academy when I heard someone shouting my name. I turned around and saw Gianni Marino walking towards me with a distressed expression etched on his face. I made eye contact with him and he motioned for me to follow him into an empty room. After I walked in Gianni shut the door.
"I thought that I should let you know that Bella knows everything." he told me.
"Everything?" I asked wide-eyed.
"Well, not everything." he said pointedly.
"What all does she know?"
"She knows who we are, and she knows who you are." he admitted. A concerned look graced his face.
"What's wrong?" I questioned.
"It was very odd. When Isabella found out she just shrugged it off like nothing." he mumbled.
"She called me the night before. She said she was going to talk to you."
"Wait, why would she call you? Why do you have each other's numbers?" Gianni angrily interrogated. I stumbled over thoughts to cover up our situation. Luckily the bell was in my favor because it rang, so I swiftly made my exit, much to Gianni's dismay.
I walked to my first period class and saw my best friend, Kai Russell, flirting with a girl in the back of the classroom. I walked over to him and sat in the seat to his left.
"Hey." I said, stopping his flirting attempts.
"Seriously?" Kai incredulously asked.
"You have to admit that it was funny." I laughed.
"Sure, maybe for you." he grumbled.
I turned to the front of the room to copy down the notes that the teacher had just written down. Eventually first and second period ended, and made my way to the lunchroom. Kai was sitting at our lunch table. Usually it was just Kai and I because we often skip lunch.
My phone vibrated and I pulled it out of my back pocket. A message from my father popped up on the screen. He was asking me to come home early from school. If he is asking me to come home, it must me extremely important.
Thirty minutes later I was walking into my father's office. His office was lined with huge wooden bookcases and there was a large oak desk in the middle.
"Papa? Why did you call me home?" I asked.
"Because, Leonardo has informed me that you're spending a great deal of time with his little sister." he said looking with his eyebrows raised.
"Father..." I trailed off.
"Why?" he asked.
"I don't know I saw her, and I didn't even know who she was at first, but I don't know. I felt this instant connection to her. I don't know how to explain it." I tried to elaborate.
"Okay. Leonardo and I have agreed that you and Isabella can date each other." my father told me, which evoked a large grin on my face.
"Alright, I was actually going to call Bella and asked her on a date today." I said to him. I waited until my father dismissed me before leaving.
I walked up to my room and collapsed on my bed. I looked at the time. We had two hours until school ended and I could call Bella. The wait was excruciating.
