I was asleep, not dreaming, but not completely unconscious of my surroundings. I dimly registered large, warm hands lifting me from my perch and the new, welcome warmth of indoors. My eyes fluttered as I was placed on something squishy and a soft weight was gently laid on me.

"There you go." The voice was warm almost familiar in a way that warm voices are. I nuzzled into the blanket, falling deeper into sleep.

I woke with a start, causing the blanket to fall off me. I wasn't in my room. I panicked. No one else was in the room. The window was open, my escape! But where was I. Oh...right. Calming myself, I glanced around. The room hadn't changed, but Kirishima was gone.

I stood, shaking myself and stretching. I dimly realized I was late for school and my parents were going to kill me. Looking around, I saw a clock on Kirishima's desk. It was 11:36. No real point in going to school. Nothing important was happening today anyways, as far as I know. I decided that I should probably stay out of the house until school ended. I could face my parents later.

I turned to leave back out of the window and froze. It was closed. I spun back to the room, glancing at the door, closed. I stepped toward the window, looking out. The sun was high, but the leaves of the tree filtered most of its rays.

I looked around the room, praying silently that there were no hidden cameras or anything like that. Then I turned into my human form and tried to pull the window open. I pushed and pulled for a good five minutes before finally giving up. The stupid window was too stubborn to budge. the wood was probably rotten or something was rusted or something. I wasn't a window expert and I didn't make a habit of getting stuck in people's rooms.

Speaking of which, I needed out. Not only was I going to have an epic panic attack if I couldn't get out, but I would have to somehow get Kirishima to let me out. I decided I would risk the possibility of Kirishima having a stay-at-home parent or everything was locked. I opened the door and quickly turned back into a fox, slipping out of the room. Downstairs, I heard a vacuum.

I silently swore, almost turning around.

No, I need to get out. It's only gonna be harder if we wait. Plus, what are we-

I paused. Not we, me. What am I.

What am I planning to do for the hours that I'm stuck in that room?

I trotted as silently as possible to the top of the stair and peered down. I didn't see anyone. Slowly and jumping at any noise, I made my way down the stairs. At the bottom, I paused. I had no idea where to go. I had never been in Kirishima's house before and had no idea where the door was. I Heard the vacuum shut off to my left and darted around a corner to my right. I peeked out and waited for any footsteps or signs of anyone.

A few moments passed and, just as I was about to step out again, Mrs. Kirishima appeared with vacuum in hand. I almost squealed as I pulled my head back and backed away from the corner. I glanced quickly around the room and saw that I was in what appeared to be the living room. I froze. If Mrs. Kirishima was vacuuming, she would probably come in here next. I ran behind the couch farthest from the entrance to the room and a moment later, Mrs. Kirishma walked into the room.

I heard her fumbling with the cord then the vacuum started up. I crept to the edge of the couch and looked out. Mrs. Kirishma was standing between me and my escape. I waited for her to take a few steps forward before I dashed to the coffee table and crouched behind it. I hoped she wouldn't notice some tuffs of orange fur sticking up from behind her coffee table.

I stuck my little nose over the coffee table and watched Mrs. Kirishima get closer to the corner I needed her to be in so she wouldn't see me escape. When she had her back turned, I ran out of the room, slid across the wooden floor, being careful not to scratch it up, and spotted the door. I approached it rapidly and closed my eyes for a brief instant. Then, I left up into my human form, swung the door wide open, and fell back into a fox, and dashed back to my house.

Once in my own yard, I paused to catch my breath. I watched as Mrs. Kirshima stuck her head out of her front door and looked around, very confused, then closed the door. I closed my eyes, panting, and sat on the grass. That was close. I looked up at my house and cringed as I saw my mom's face staring back at me from a window.

Not good.

The face disappeared and I seriously considered making a run for it. In a moment, the back door opened and my mom walked out with her hands on her hips.

"And what do you think you're doing here, young lady? Do you know that you're supposed to be at school?"

"Excuse me? Mrs. L/n?" I heard a voice behind me and turned to see Mrs. Kirishima walking over. "Are you talking to that fox?"

I glanced at my mom and saw her face whiten a bit.

"Why do you ask?"

"Well, I just found some little orange hairs, possibly fox ones, on the carpet of my living room."

My mom's eyebrows shot up and she glanced at me accusingly.

"Really? How very strange. How do you think a fox would get into your home?"

"I really have no idea. My son will bring in an odd animal from time to time, but never a fox. I made sure to check all the windows and doors before I noticed you and none of them were open."

"Did you check the ones upstairs?"

Mrs. Kirishima frowned and hugged herself.

"No, I didn't. But why? Foxes can't fly."

"No, they can't. But I have seen some in trees before."

"Trees?"

The conversation continued for nearly an hour, during which I tried and failed to sneak away several times. When Mrs. Kirishima had gone back inside, my mom picked me up, carried me inside, set me down on a counter, and started pacing. After a moment, she paused and looked straight at me.

"Y/n M/n L/n, do you have any idea how much trouble you are in? Another person's home, really? Are you that anxious to get out of school that you will hide in another's home? Heroes don't go sneaking into other people's homes instead of going to school."

I changed into a human just long enough to say something.

"No, they go crashing into them."

"Y/n, that is not the point." My mom pinched the bridge of her nose and closed her eyes. "Go upstairs and change into some clothes. I feel stupid speaking to a fox.
