I sat in my homeroom, writing as quickly as I could. I had crammed as much information into my brain as I could with Mina and a few others right before the exam started. Now I had to dump as much out in these questions as I could before I forgot everything.

Finally, it was over. I wasn't feeling very confident about it, but there was nothing more I could do.

Mr. Aizawa opened the hero-suit wall. "Suit up, everybody."

The class met Mr. Aizawa outside. Mina and a few others looked around, worried. Mina leaned over to me.

"Why are there so many teachers?"

Mina was right. Thirteen, Midnight, and several others were there along with Mr. Aizawa.

"We were just supposed to fight robots, right?"

I shrugged. This didn't look very friendly.

Mr. Aizawa called them together and gave a basic introduction. It was very comforting stuff like you can fail, don't mess up, don't make any mistakes. The usual from him. Then Principal Nezu popped out of Mr. Aizawa's scarf.

"This year's test will be run differently," he said. "Because of recent events, there will be a heavier focus on teamwork and actual combat along with hero work. That means you will be working in pairs." He looked at me. "With one group of three, and your opponent will be one of our esteemed teachers."

I looked from teacher to teacher. There was no way I had signed up for this.

Mr. Aizawa spoke up again. "Your teammates and opponents have already been decided." He went down the list. I was 6th with Mina and Denki fighting Principal Nezu. I didn't know anything about him really, least of all his quirk. That probably wasn't good going into a fight with him.

"Your goal," Principal Nezu continued, "is to put these handcuffs on your opponent." He held up a pair of heavy-duty handcuffs. "Or you will win if one of you escapes the exam stage. You will have thirty minutes."

Mina raised her hand. "Is it really okay to just jet?"

"If you come across your enemy and you think you can win, then fine," Mr. Aizawa answered. "But in instances where you think you will lose, run away and get help."

The teachers started walking away. "For those not fighting, you can either watch or strategize. It's up to you."

Most of the teams split off and walked away. Not my team.

"I'm thirsty," Denki announced. "Let's go find a vending machine."

"Uh, should we come up with a plan?" I asked.

Denki shrugged. "Nahh." He started walking away.

Mina ran after him. "Wait up. We've got to come up with something."

"We don't even know his quirk or where we'll be fighting. So why stress about it?"

Mina looked at me as Denki started walking off again. "I guess I'm thirsty too."

---

When the sixth match started, the three of us were in an industrial arena. There were pipes and machines and metal and concrete everywhere. A large horn blew and the start of the exam was announced.

The three of us started running.

"It would be pretty hard to find him in all this," I said.

"Yeah, let's just escape."

"If we do run across the little guy, I can just zap him."

There was a large rumbling and the ground started to shake. It sounded like things were falling apart. We stopped running. All of a sudden the area around us was crashing down. We were running like crazy. Mina and Denki were more in shape than I was. They had been training at the school for a lot longer. I used my quirk for speed and stamina to keep up. Those attributes, along with things like strength, were harder to isolate than the senses, but I was able to do it now.

We finally made it to a somewhat intact place where the walls weren't falling on us.

"Can't you just zap him?" Mina asked.

"I don't know where he is and I don't want to use all my shots for nothing. Y/n, can you find him?"

I grow a pair of ears quickly and begin to listen for him. Before I could find him, things started falling again and we had to run. The already loud sounds of metal on metal were deafening with the enhanced hearing. I had to get rid of the ears. While I was busy ding that, I didn't notice all the little pieces beginning to fall in front of us.

"Look out, Y/n!"

I looked up sharply as dust started falling on me. Above, a series of pipes were falling. A hesitated a moment, then tried to scramble back but I was to late.

"Y/n!" Mina shouted. She did something. I wasn't sure what.

I couldn't move in time. The pipe slammed down on my ankle. I fell hard and hit my head.

---

I woke up in the Medical Bay. It was later than when I had fallen. I wasn't sure how much later though. I moved around, trying to see what hurt. Nothing seemed worse than an ache, though I was exhausted. Recovery Girl must have already worked her magic.

I started. Kirishima was standing by a desk, looking over a clipboard. He hear my move and turned.

"Hey. What happened to you?"

It took me a second to find my calm. "Uh, I got knocked out by some pipes. Principal Nezu was a tougher opponent than I thought."

He smiled. "Yeah, Cementos was no joke either. He knocked both me and Sato out in the first few minutes."

"I heard."

There was a pause. Kirishima stepped away from the desk and sat in a chair. I pushed myself up into a sitting position. "So Sato's still out?"

Kirishima nodded. "He's behind that curtain there. Recovery Girl's quirk plus his own tiredness after using his quirk means he's out cold."

Another pause.

"Soo," Krishima said, "what's that burn?"

I looked down at my arm, which he had motioned to. The skin was all discolored and had puckered up. It didn't look like a burn from any sort of fire. "It must be from Mina's acid," I theorized aloud. "I think she tried to save me from the pipe."

The door opened then and Midoriya and Bakugo were brought in. All Might and Recovery Girl were right behind them. Recovery Girl was already scolding All Might.

"I know this was an exam but seriously, it looked as if you were trying to kill the boys. Then you allowed them to turn on each other? Multiple times too. I mean honestly. The things you put these students through. If the villains don't finish them off in the next few weeks, you'll do it all on your own. I'd be surprised if any of them made it to adulthood!"

She noticed Krishima and I were awake. Her tone changed. "Hello, dears. How are you both? If you'll excuse us, I have to see to these two. I'll check up on you afterward." She waved toward the desk. "Find yourselves a snake. Build your strength before you go back home."
