"i'm dating kevin now."

juyeon takes a look at the intertwined hands in front of him, blocking his view of the park within the campus. the café is peaceful and soothing with him as the only customer, not until his friends came barging in to bring him the news. the dating news.

he chokes on his coffee.

"oh no, juyo!" changmin removes his hand from kevin's grip and pats his back. "are you okay?"

juyeon waves his hand dismissively. "i'm okay but what did you say? i think i heard it wrong."

his friend of almost a decade just smiles and bring their other friend with him to the couch in front of juyeon. changmin wraps his hands around kevin's arms, leaning his head on the canadian's shoulder and oh boy, that is such an unpleasant sight.

"kevin and i are dating!"

juyeon feels like choking on his coffee again.

kevin notices his silence and shakes his head profusely. "we're not dating for real! we're just faking it. this girl from my class just won't stop bugging me so... desperate times call for desperate measures, i guess."

"ah, kevin!" changmin whines. he stomps his foot underneath the table and juyeon has to hide the little smile that was almost formed at how childish his best friend looks. "i was gonna trick juyo for as long as i can. you're such a killjoy."

kevin chuckles, almost nervously. "i don't want to die early, changmin."

the youngest of the three doesn't get it, but he doesn't have to. juyeon won't let him get it.

four years have already passed since juyeon started pining for his childhood friend. they met in middle school when changmin's parents forgot to tell each other that they wouldn't be able to pick him up, leaving their child by the waiting shed for hours. juyeon's mom, one of the teachers, saw him and took him inside her office where juyeon was currently waiting for her to finish grading some essays.

they've been friends ever since.

to keep the long story short, juyeon falls for his dimpled friend simply because of his other persona when dancing. it was simple adoration at first, something that comes once in a while, which soon evolved to heart bursts whenever changmin shows him his dimple and his infamous puppy eyes. then juyeon became hyper-aware whenever changmin touches him, clings to his arm, puts his chin in his shoulder. the feelings were too much that juyeon couldn't even try denying the growing crush he has on his best friend.
