lee jaehyun is a jerk.

he's a bully who likes to pick on others and show everyone his superiority. he might not hurt people physically, but his loud and offensive mouth scars their minds. he doesn't pick who to bully verbally, he says what he wants to say to a person no matter their gender, age, position or race.

but today, in the school's hallway, you saw a whole new different side to the boy. jaehyun is kneeling on one knee in front of a girl, his hands extended to give the person in front of him flowers. it was the first time you saw him smile sincerely, and not sarcastically. unfortunately, that smile did not last long.

"i'm sorry, but i don't feel the same way as you."

it was a short sentence, but it was enough for the people watching them to gasp and whisper. it was enough for jaehyun's expression to change and for the flowers he's holding to drop.

you decided to leave them alone, it was not your business afterall. you didn't bother to know more about the drama, because you have your own problem to face.

you climbed up the school's rooftop, and heard soft sobs from someone. you approached the crying person and was surprised to see jaehyun alone in the room.

you were taken aback to see someone like him cry. but you did not bother consoling him. you two are not close afterall, and you're here in the rooftop to also cry, and not comfort a guy whose feelings were rejected.

you sat in the other side, and there you cried your heart out. the roof top was filled with cries from two heartbroken souls; one was rejected, one was cheated on with someone she trusted.

you felt someone sit beside you and you were surprised to see that the person was jaehyun. "you got rejected too?"

by instinct, you shifted away from him by a few centimeters. jaehyun seems offended by your action, but it wasn't your fault. you two hardly know each other, and the last time you two talked is when he insulted your now ex-boyfriend.

"n-no, i wasn't." you hesitated before answering.

"then why are you crying in here too?"

you contemplated whether you should tell him or not, but in the end you decided to tell him. you figured that he'll forget it quickly anyway, and telling him what happened can probably make you feel better.

"i caught my boyfriend cheating... with my sister." you told him and he winced.

"that's... fucked up." he commented and you couldn't agree more.

"i know right?" you continued. "we were together for almost four years, and he decides to ruin it by trying to hook up with my sister. my sister could have brushed him off, but the bitch didn't! it hurts to be betrayed by two of the people you trusted."

you can't help but cry again, and you felt a hand rubbing your back. you were surprised to see someone like lee jaehyun comfort you, but that doesn't matter for now.

you were carried by your emotions, and so you told him everything. it's very surprising because he listened to everything you said sincerely, even giving out advices and funny comments in between to make you laugh.

somehow, you found yourself guilty for even judging him quickly. lee jaehyun has a soft side, like everyone else. like other people, he also have feelings, he loves and cares for other people too.

"it will all be okay." he consoled, patting your back.

"what a-about you?" you asked in between your tears. "you got rejected. a-are you okay?"

jaehyun gave you a sad smile. "actually, i'm not. it was the first time i truly felt something amazing for someone. i love her, but guess i'm the only one who felt that way."

you gave him a pat in the back and he sarcastically laughed. "guess this is my karma for everything i've done."

you don't really know how to comfort people, you suck at it. the only thing you can do is pat his back and listen attentively to his problems.

after probably an hour, you two have completely sobered up. as the school bell rings signifying the end of the day, you two looked at each other and laughed. you two just spent the whole afternoon classes to cry, but it was worth it.

"i'm lee jaehyun, but i prefer to be called hyunjae." jaehyun placed his hand in front of you. "it's more unique."

you smiled and shook his hand. "y/n l/n, nice to meet you too."

"thanks for... today. guess i'll see you around?" he ruffled your hair and gave you a smile, before leaving you alone.

that day, you went home with a big smile in your face and your chest light. you went home thinking you just made a new friend, a friend named lee jaehyun.

lee jaehyun might be a jerk, but you know that he is a person capable of feelings too. lee jaehyun might be a jerk, but now you think so otherwise.
