'it's that time of the year again.' younghoon thought as he looked at the date on his phone.

today is november 5, the day that changmin celebrates his birthday. the day when younghoon finally asked the boy out.

and the day that the two of them broke up.

it has been two years since the two of them part ways, but he doesn't think he has moved on yet. he tried everything to forget changmin, from drinking to meeting someone else, but the hole the boy left in his heart is irreplaceable.

'well, life goes on.' he thought as he jumped from his bed and into the bathroom, preparing himself for work. he still might have not move on, but he won't let his personal life affect his job.

younghoon walked into the office, only to see the last person he was least expecting to see in his workplace.

ji changmin.

why is ji changmin, his ex-boyfriend who he haven't seen for two years, suddenly on his office?

the head of their department spotted younghoon and smiled. "ah, younghoon-ie! come here for a minute."

changmin's eyes landed on younghoon, and unlike his eyes filled with surprise and longing, changmin's has no emotion in them. there's no sign of surprise or anything. nothing at all.

younghoon reluctantly approached the two, and the head immediately grabbed his hand and made him face the new boy. "younghoon, this is ji changmin, our new employee. changmin, this is younghoon, your new partner in this field."

younghoon's eyes widened. he's the partner aka assisstant that he's been asking for to his boss? that will mean that he will see changmin every second, minute, hour and day in the office, something that he's avoiding to do because he is trying to move on.

"nice meeting you, younghoon-ssi." changmin held younghoon's hand and shook it. 'it still has the same warmth into it.' younghoon thought. nothing changed.

"n-nice meeting you too." younghoon can't help but stutter.

their head clasped his hands. "younghoon, do you mind showing him around? i still have a lot of things to do."

younghoon forced out a smile. "no, i don't."

"great! then see you guys later! i hope you get comfortable in here, changmin!" the department head left the two alone.

younghoon just stared at changmin. the boy's physical appearance changed 360°. the changmin he once dated has puffy cheeks, likes over-size clothes, round glasses, and has never changed his hair color. but the changmin he's seeing now is... different. the new changmin is sporting a slighly fitted long sleeve matched with ripped jeans. gone was the fat cheeks and the black hair— he now has orange for his hair color.

"done checking me out?"

younghoon snapped away from his thoughts and saw a smirking changmin. "from what i remember you're supposed to show me around here."

"right." younghoon muttered. "let's go?"

***

younghoon sighed as he navigated his way through the parking lot. it has been a very tough and long day for him. changmin's presence really affected him and his work, and he ended up not completing all of his goals for today.

all he did today was steal glances from the orange-haired boy, who seems to be getting comfortable in the new environment. not once did younghoon sense the boy look at him, and that frustrates him. what? is he the only one who still hasn't move on from their relationship? call him selfish but younghoon wants changmin to feel hurt too, mentally. he wants him to be affected by younghoon's presence too, like how changmin's presence affects him big time.

"changmin! not in here!"

younghoon's blank mind seems to have been awakened when he heard his ex-lover's name. he hid behind a car and saw two people— the one he recognized as changmin— cuddling on the side of a car.

"but i really missed you so much!" changmin smiled, as he showered the boy in front of him with kisses. younghoon's heart ached because of the sight.

"it's not like we were away from each other for years. it was just a day, chang." the unknown boy said and tried opening the passenger seat of the car.

younghoon saw how changmin pulled the boy back in his arms and buried his head on the other's neck. "whatever, chanhee." he muttered.

seeing changmin acting like that to someone that isn't him hurted younghoon and made him gloomy and angry. his mind wasn't thinking rationally, and he walked out of his hiding spot and showed himself to the couple that is still cuddling with each other.

"changmin." he called out. changmin looked at him, and the smile on the boy's face immediately faded and was replaced with a serious expression. "let's talk."

chanhee looked at younghoon, confused. he felt the tension in the atmosphere rise and chanhee thought that two must have something together in the past.

"office hours are over, younghoon. what are we supposed to talk about?"

it was the first time chanhee saw his boyfriend angry. he rubbed the boy's arms and leaned near him to whisper something. "whatever you guys need to talk about, talk about, okay? i'll just be at the coffee shop nearby." he gave younghoon a nod and left the two alone, before changmin can even drag him back.

changmin sighed. "what is it, younghoon?"

younghoon paused. 'yeah, what is it, younghoon? what are the two of you supposed to talk about? office hours are over, you already explained everything about his new workplace to him, there's nothing more to say to him.'

"do you still... have feelings for me?" he asked, eyes shut closed.

"are you seriously asking me that?" changmin suppressed a giggle from escaping his lips. "what do you think?"

"everytime i think of you, everytime i look at you, i still feel pain in my heart. you know why? because i thought i have moved on, but i was wrong. i want you back changmin, i'll make things right. just please, come back."

"it's too late for that. i have someone else now, and you saw how happy i am with him, right?" changmin tried to leave, but younghoon held his hand that made him stop.

"it's really unfair. how can you move on so quickly?" he hugged the younger and let his tears flow. "how am i the only one still heartbroken from what happened to us? why am i the only one still in despair? it's so unfair, changmin, so unfair. why aren't you feeling the pain too? how can you love someone else quickly?"

"why? do you think the only person i'll love forever is you? grow up, younghoon! how can you even wish that i suffer like you? you deserve every pain you're feeling. changmin pulled away from the hug and wiped away a tear that escaped from his eye. "you deserve it, because you're the one who threw me away, right?" changmin threw him one last, blank look before going to the coffee show to fetch chanhee.

younghoon dropped to the ground, dejected. changmin is right; he deserves everything, he deserves to suffer in pain.

because in the first place, he was not the one who was left hanging in the air; he was the one who cheated and let a person such as changmin go.
