 Nangangamba;

A Filipino verb that means to feel threatened or to feel fear.

Changmin has a weird way of liking someone.

Most of the time, people catch feelings for the simplest of things. Like looks, humor, personality, maybe even talent. Not Changmin, though. Changmin doesn't fall for people for those kinds of things. Come to think of it, he has never fallen for people on his own.

The thing is, Changmin only likes someone when they like him. The feelings of the other person must be known to him first before he can even think of liking them back. And when the kept secrets get revealed, that's when he falls. Deep. Hard. Like my-cheeks-heat-up-with-just-a-mention-of-your-name hard. Like I-can-barely-look-at-you hard. Like I-imagine-scenarios-of-you-and-me-together hard. He becomes a lovesick idiot whenever he starts falling for the person who has a crush on him.

And that's something Changmin can always boast about: all of his crushes liked him back because technically, they liked him first.

Changmin thinks it's weird because he barely liked anyone around him romantically before. When he was still young and naïve he had only developed crushes on unattainable people, like his childhood best friend's anime girls and the idols that Changmin used to watch on television after school. But even then those were nothing but weak attractions that Changmin almost thought that there was something wrong with him, that is until word got around that someone from a grade below him had been crushing on him for so long.

Choi Soobin has a crush on Ji Changmin. That was what's coming out of everyone's mouths.

It was when Changmin finally felt a shift in his uneventful world. Suddenly, he can't stop noticing the boy with the sharp gaze and height that never fails to make him feel small. Changmin is certain he never liked Soobin romantically before (heck, he doesn't even know he existed before!), but after the latter's feelings had come to light, he eventually finds himself liking him back.

And it would've been amazing to see two people crushing on each other to get together, or at least officially acknowledge each other's feelings, before one of them graduates middle school, but they're Changmin and Soobin. Choi Soobin who, despite the late night texts and the shy glances exchanged back and forth during class hours, still believes that getting rejected has a higher chance of happening than getting his feelings reciprocated. And Ji Changmin, who had read too many works of fiction and watched too many K-dramas with his sisters to know that true love isn't as easy as this.
