Rosaleen comes to my room each night.
Sometimes we talk, sometimes we're quiet, sometimes one of us rants.
I'm getting more used to doing that, actually. Rosaleen's only one person, but sometimes the little things she do feel overwhelming.
Maybe this is what a support system is.
Back at home, I'd be afraid to say something, because everyone else's problems were always bigger than mine.
But I think... I think this is good. I've never really done this before, but I like this.
Funny how one girl can change so much.
Even though the days are uneventful, time moves fast. I spend my days with Ruy, Melia, Alvar, and Rosaleen, and I spend my nights with Rosaleen and machines.
I turn in weapons every Sunday, only for them to be returned and rewired back to its flawed purpose, and Jaelynn teaches Rosaleen battle strategy.
And before I know it, we've been in the Neverseen for about a month-and-a-half, and it's nothing like the hellhole I've been warned about.
But when I talk with Tam or Sophie, I make it sound like it is.
I don't tell Sophie about Kenric, either. I guess it's a procrastination thing, because on all the nights we talk, I'm terrified of how she'd react, so I just don't say anything at all.
I know I have to tell her one day, though. Soon, probably.
But for now, I'm content to hide this from her, even if it's bad for us, because I know how she is. If she knew, she'd get anxious about it, even though it's out of her control.
I let out a breath. It's morning right now, and I think today's going to be different.
Yesterday, Gisela said to meet her in the Sunroom, in provided human clothing, at 10 a.m., and while it's nerve wracking, maybe it'll break up the monotony of the days.
Not that I'm supposed to be having fun here.
I change into a white tee and black pants, slipping into a denim jacket. It's still winter, but sometimes the sun peeks through the clouds, and it's a chilling reminder of time.
Making my way down the halls, I listen for footsteps. Lately, I've been trying to be more observant; I'm probably under the influence of you-know-who.
The Sunroom's crystal doors are open, the morning light enveloping the whole room with its ethereal glow. In it stands Gisela, Vespera, and Melia, who are talking.
At the sight of me, Melia smiles and waves. "Hi, Dex!" she says.
Her happiness is contagious. I smile back. "Hey!" I say.
Are we going to the human world?
She separates from Vespera and Gisela to come to me; "How are you?"
"Um, good. How are you?"
"I'm good!" she says, with a smile. A pause. "We're going to the human world in a couple of minutes, actually."
"Really?" I tilt my head. "Why?"
"Well, you're a little early; Rosaleen's gonna be here, too. Vespera's going to train both your abilities." Melia laughs. "And I'm just here to say hi."
I smile, and before I can reply, I hear footsteps behind us. The gait's familiar, so it must be... "Rosaleen."
She laughs, stopping beside me. I turn to look at her; she's wearing black jeans and a rose scoop neck crop top, with an oversized marigold jacket.
