GUYS I FORGOT AGAIN SORRY IM BACK WITH THE MILK NOW
A week passes and I'm sore.
Not mentally, because while Rosaleen hasn't solved everything, she makes me excited. I've been told to fall in love with people who make me feel safe, not the ones who make me flutter, but she does both.
Maybe we are the cringy fanfic ship.
But as much as she keeps my spirits high (not in the drugs-sense), I'm sore because of all the training with Koray.
Rosaleen and I try to drop subtle hints asking about Skylar, but he's dense and doesn't pick up on any. Or if he does, he doesn't show any sign of it. But occasionally, his remarks sound like something Skylar would say, so I try my best to take that as her being in good hands.
But Rosaleen! Life feels strangely safe with her, but electrifying, and I want to remember everything forever. It's achingly reassuring to remember that I have eternity with her.
(Assuming she doesn't move on.)
We sit on the lounge room's couch. It's ours today; I don't know what Alvar did but he did something, and I guess that's pretty cool of him. (I feel content. Maybe the Neverseen doesn't deserve our betrayal? But how can I make the Black Swan and Neverseen work?)
I shake my head. I can't go back on my word, the Neverseen literally wanna kill humans and take over the Lost Cities. Am I crazy?
Rosaleen taps my leg and I turn to face her. She brings me out of these thoughts so easily, it's the honeymoon phase, I guess.
I bite my lip jokingly and pull the f-boy face on her. "My lady."
She laughs. "My lord," Rosaleen says. "Movie, perhaps?"
I reach for the chip box, setting it on my left knee and on her right. Our legs are brushing, and even though we haven't kissed, the subtle, chaste touching between us is enough for now.
"Which one?"
"Glimmer and Melia say Tangled's good?"
"Oh! I've watched it," I say. I don't mention when I watched it, because I think it'd turn down the mood. "It's good!"
"What's the producer?" She finds the chip and takes it from its slot, turning it over and trying to read its tiny text.
I already know the answer, though. I grin. "Disney."
"Dizznee?" She thinks. "Have we talked about this before?"
"Probably," I laugh. "I mean, I have my own land, Rosaleen." I love her name. "I'm just... better."
She snorts, with a teasing smile. Have we always been this soft with each other? Maybe I'd inherited Sophie's oblivion. "Weird flex, but okay."
"Am I wrong?"
Rosaleen rolls her eyes, then proceeds to single-handedly obliterate me with a "Well, no, no you're not."
I just smile as my happy chemical goes absurd. "Yeah, I know."
We sit together in rare peace for a moment. Rosaleen inserts the Tangled chip into the box, and there's a soft whirring before the familiar narrative fills the room.
She watches in fascination as I watch Her in something akin to awe. Her lips tilt into a smile. "You like what you see?" Rosaleen asks. Oh, she knows what she's doing.
My cheeks warm and I study the holograms in front of us with sudden faux interest. "Yep. Pretty art. Decent... yeah. It's cool."
Rosaleen hums. "I'm just... better," she echoes mischievously.
