Abella woke with a voice echoing through her head.

"If you don't have any fighting leathers, I'm sure my mother could borrow you some."

She mentally flipped him off but couldn't help the smile that fell on her lips when she heard Nyx's laugh echo through her head. Shaking her head, she stopped smiling and rose from her bed.

"What's with the smile?" Abella's best friend Echo asked across the room. Abella jumped not expecting her friend to be in her room but answered, nonetheless.

"I'm always smiling." Abella said and swung her legs off her bed and walked into her closet. Echo took a seat in her friends chair and dangled her legs off of the side.

"Ya, but not like that." Echo said a knowing smirk on her lips.

"I don't know what you mean." Abella said keeping her mask of indifference on, although she knew exactly what Echo meant.

"I mean that ever since the night court got here you have been all giggles and glares." Echo paused and reexamined her words. "Which is a deadly combination for you."

"And why is it deadly?" Abella shouted from her closet.

"Because I've never seen it on you before, you either like someone, or you don't but still pretend like you do. But it seems like you can't make up your mind about them."

"You know me too well." Abella muttered as she started to strip into her fighting gears.

"Half the time I can't tell if you want to kill him or fuck him." Echo said chuckling, she was one of the few people who got to see Abella candidly. Got to see Abella's full range of emotion that wasn't just happiness.

"Hey." Abella said her face turning red "but I can't tell either." She admitted with a sigh, feeling like this frustrated her.

"Ew come on I didn't need to hear you admit it." Echo said cringing.

"Well you shouldn't have brought it up." Abella laughed as looked over her appearance in her fighting leathers. Her fighting leathers were white in color with gold embellishments and clung to the curves of her body. They were thinner than the usual fighting leathers but this allowed them to be more flexible and move with Abella.

"Well are you going too?" Echo asked curiosity lacing her voice.

"Kill him?"

"Abella no." Echo said laughing "Fuck him."

"No."

"Why not?"

"You know why." Was all Abella said as she walked out of the closet to glare at her. Abella was right she did know why, but Echo was hoping that someone would be able to break through to her, before Abella started making decisions that would force her hand, like marrying a man she did not love. Abella's gaze softened a bit as she stared at her friend "But you can watch as I kick his ass."
